摘要: An air permeable envelope has a gripper for securing the envelope to a seat. A mixture contained in the air permeable envelope can react exothermically upon exposure to air. A sealed bag that is relatively air impermeable, initially holds the air permeable envelope and mixture together with the gripper. Upon opening and unsealing the bag, the mixture is exposed to air in order to start an exothermic reaction. The envelope and the gripper are removed from the bag and the gripper is used to attach the envelope upon the seat to warm it.

摘要: A system and a thermochemical method for the production of cold, that uses a reactive device having a reactor or a chamber for storing a reactive product that can absorb a gas. The reactive product and the gas are such that, when they are exposed to one another, they undergo a reaction resulting in absorption of the gas by the reactive product and, conversely, they undergo a reaction involving the desorption of the gas absorbed by the reactive product as a result of heat applied to the reactive product when it absorbed the gas. The system has two substantially identical reactive devices wherein when the reactor of one reactive device is operating in the absorption cycle, the reactor of the other is operating in the desorption cycle. The system has a mechanism for determining the progress rate of the thermochemical reaction.

摘要: A cooling device includes a target fluid inlet, a target fluid outlet, an inner conduit, and a chamber surrounding the inner conduit. The inner conduit communicates with the target fluid inlet and the target fluid outlet, and provides a flow path for a target fluid to be cooled. The chamber contains a first endothermic reactant and includes a reactant inlet selectively alterable from a closed state to an open state. When the reactant inlet is in the closed state, the first endothermic reactant is isolated from a second endothermic reactant and no endothermic reaction occurs. When the reactant inlet is in the open state, the reactant inlet provides a flow path for enabling the second endothermic reactant to come into contact with the first endothermic reactant in the chamber for initiating the endothermic reaction and cooling the target fluid in the inner conduit.

摘要: A container for shipping and storing food products in two separate chambers has an outer casing enclosing a temperature controlled container fabricated from an insulating material. The temperature controlled container includes a lid and a base. The base has a base chamber including several ventilation channels formed on the interior of the base chamber. The lid has a first side for sealing the base chamber, which also includes several horizontal channels formed in the first side, and a lid chamber divided into several food product receiving chambers. A lip is formed on the base and a corresponding groove is formed on the lid, such that the lip interlocks with the groove for sealing the base chamber. Moreover, dry ice may be positioned within the temperature controlled container with respect to a plurality of food products to control the temperature within the temperature controlled container. In addition, a method for recycling a shipping and storage container includes the steps of providing shipping containers to a provider of individually packaged meals. Each of the containers includes an outer casing enclosing a temperature controlled container fabricated from an insulating material, from a shipping container fabricator and packing each of the shipping containers with a plurality of individually packaged meals and dry ice for controlling the temperature within the temperature controlled container. It further comprises the step of sending the shipping containers to at least one customer. After removal of the plurality of individually packaged meals, the empty shipping containers are returned to the provider of individually packaged meals. The provider inspects and cleans the returned shipping containers and sanitizes and repacks the returned shipping containers which are undamaged, but the damaged shipping containers are sent to the container fabricator to recycle the outer casing and the insulating material.

摘要: Disclosed is a self-contained, rapid cooling device that retains heat produced from the cooling process and can be stored for indefinite periods without losing its cooling potential. A liquid in a first chamber undergoes a change of phase into vapor which cools the first chamber. A second chamber forms a vacuum insulation about a third chamber which contains a sorbent. The sorbent in the third chamber is in fluid communication with the vapor and removes the vapor from the first chamber. The device is self-contained because a material in contact with the sorbent removes the heat from the sorbent to prevent the reduction in the cooling effect produced by the first chamber. In addition, a vacuum insulation about the third chamber keeps the heated sorbent from diminishing that cooling effect.
