Abstract: A computer implemented system, method, or computer readable medium for providing a visual interactive software tool that permits users to investigate and evaluate financial, trade, and business-related risks. An interactive tool is provided that can integrate front and back end capabilities to, for example, provide quick and efficient navigation to pertinent information in a visual workspace. The system, method, or computer readable medium can be configured to include a software engine that identifies corridors or other subgraph features in accordance with automated traversal based on a set of rules. The features can provide a notification and selective visual access to risk-related subgraphs based on topic, category, or sanctions as a virtual lens for the user in connection with a displayed node.

Abstract: A Bayesian test of demographic parity for learning to rank may be applied to determine ranking modifications. A fairness control system receiving a ranking of items may apply Bayes factors to determine a likelihood of bias for the ranking. These Bayes factors may include a factor for determining bias in each item and a factor for determining bias in the ranking of the items. An indicator of bias may be generated using the applied Bayes factors and the fairness control system may modify the ranking if the determines likelihood of bias satisfies modification criteria for the ranking.

Abstract: The system provides a method and apparatus for sorting and displaying information from a BBS. The system provides a method of sorting and presenting messages from a BBS in a way so that the relationship in message threads can be easily observed and related messages can be identified. The system provides a way to view messages and map message threads in two and three dimensions so that the content of messages can be easily reviewed and the relationship between messages can be seen and followed. The system allows a user to enter into a message thread at any point and to then produce a visualization of the related threads and messages associated with each individual message. The system provides interfaces for either a linear or threaded BBS or even a hybrid BBS that is some combination of linear and threaded.

Abstract: Techniques and tools are described for producing time-series data using faceted search based on document creation time. For example, index information can be created from events (e.g., by adding meta-data and indexing the events as documents). In addition, index information can be created that maps document creation time to time ranges. Search queries can then be executed (e.g., comprising ad-hoc filters to filter on the meta-data), and search results can be faceted on the time ranges to produce time-series data. The time-series data can be graphed to display trends of activity (e.g., trends of events based on user activity).

Abstract: An online concierge system generates a graph connecting items with attributes of the items and other items. Hence, the graph includes nodes corresponding to attributes and nodes corresponding to items, with an item connected to attributes of the item in the graph. Example attributes include a brand, a category, a department, or any other suitable information about the item. When the online concierge system receives a search query to identify one or more items from a customer, the online concierge system parses the search query into combinations of terms and compares different combinations of terms to the graph to determine connections between different combinations of terms in the graph. Based on measures of connectedness between combinations of terms and connections in the graph, items are identified from one or more combinations of terms. Information about the identified items is presented to the customer.
