The motor also includes a brush assembly having a brush card mount disposed around the commutator, a brush holder mounted on a surface of the brush card mount, and a brush disposed within the brush holder in sliding contact with the commutator to supply electric current to the commutator. A back surface of the brush includes at least one curved surface and a groove. A torsion spring is secured to the brush card mount adjacent the brush holder, the spring having a leg arranged to engage the groove of the back surface of the brush.

Motor coils are wound in the lamination stack slots and the end insulator slots. The motor further includes a fan having blades attached to a fan ring and mounted to an end of the lamination stack. The fan ring includes longitudinally-extending tongues arranged to be mounted at the end of the lamination stack and the end insulator includes a plurality of longitudinally-extending notches corresponding to the tongues of the fan ring to allow the tongues to be in direct contact with the end of the lamination stack.

In one embodiment low voltage source components convert a high voltage AC power source to a relatively low voltage supply and provide a direct current output. First superconductor wires carry current from the low voltage source components to a load, and second superconductor wires carry current from the load to the low voltage source components. Individual ones of the first wires are grouped with individual ones of the second wires so that wires connected to carry current in opposite directions are in such sufficiently close proximity that additives of self-fields generated by individual ones of the wires during power transmission result in reduction of the magnetic fringe field generated, thereby increasing the current carrying capacity of the wires.

    摘要: A vacuum extraction system is provided for extracting contaminants from rotating electrical devices. In an exemplary embodiment, the vacuum extraction system extracts conductive dust from the current collection system of a synchronous generator with a static excitation system. As the brushes (24) of the static excitation system wear against the collector rings (26), they produce conductive dust, which if permitted to accumulate, may cause electrical shorts and arcing and severe damage to the rotating electrical device. Methods and systems consistent with the vacuum extraction system of the present invention extract conductive dust from a rotating electrical device through vacuum passages (50, 62, 67, 72, 77) in the rotating electrical device into a removable dust capture media (46) to prevent dust accumulation and possible electrical damage. The vacuum passages of the vacuum extraction system may comprise, for example, nozzles (50), through-holes (62) in a brush (60), grooves (67) in a brush (65), through-holes (72) in a brush holder (70), or grooves (77) in a brush holder (75).
