    摘要: An apparatus and method for charging a superconductor, such as a high temperature superconductor (HTS), in-situ, including a superconductor that is magnetized by a magnet. A surface area of the magnet is smaller than a surface area of the superconductor and the magnet scans the surface area of the superconductor to magnetize the superconductor one portion at a time. An additional compression superconductor may be used to compress the magnetic flux from the magnet such that the magnetic flux exits the compression superconductor via an aperture on the surface of the compression superconductor and then impinges the surface of the superconductor being charged. The superconductor is assembled in a machine prior to being magnetized and may be cooled prior to magnetization.

    摘要: The motors/generators of the preferred embodiments comprise a rotating part (rotor) and a stationary part (stator). In the devices disclosed, the primary function of the stator is to provide a high strength background magnetic field in which the rotor rotates. The rotor can be powered with a current that changes direction in concert with the relative change in magnetic field direction of the background field (that is, as the rotor moves from one magnetic pole to the next) in the case of a motor. In the case of a generator, the movement of the rotor generally results in the generation of an alternating voltage and current.

    摘要: A non-traditional topology of a superconductive electric motor or generator increases the air gap flux density by reducing stray flux and concentrating lines of flux within the air gap. An electric motor or generator utilizing the invention will include three components: a rotating armature, a permanent magnet stator and a shielding sleeve. The shielding sleeve of the motor is a hollow cylinder that fits between the armature and the stator, and is configured to cool a plurality of high-temperature superconductors within it to a temperature below their critical temperatures. These superconductors are placed at an optimized position to redirect flux and promote greater efficiency.

    摘要: A power conversion and distribution system. In one embodiment low voltage source components convert a high voltage AC power source to a relatively low voltage supply and provide a direct current output. First superconductor wires carry current from the low voltage source components to a load, and second superconductor wires carry current from the load to the low voltage source components. Individual ones of the first wires are grouped with individual ones of the second wires so that wires connected to carry current in opposite directions are in such sufficiently close proximity that additives of self-fields generated by individual ones of the wires during power transmission result in reduction of the magnetic fringe field generated, thereby increasing the current carrying capacity of the wires.
