摘要: A variable length coding method is comprised of: a coefficient value scanning step in which an RL sequence generation unit, a reordering unit, and a binarization unit scan coefficient values within a block in a predetermined scanning order starting at a higher-frequency component toward a lower-frequency component; and an arithmetic coding step in which an arithmetic coding unit and a table storage unit perform arithmetic coding on the absolute values of the coefficient values according to the scanning order used in the coefficient value scanning step, by switching between probability tables for use, wherein, in the arithmetic coding step, a probability table to be used is switched to another probability table in one direction, when the arithmetic-coded absolute values of the coefficient values include an absolute value exceeding a predetermined threshold value.

摘要: A method for encoding video and an encoder for encoding video, a method for decoding video and a decoder for decoding video are provided. Accordingly, in one embodiment, a method for decoding video receives a bit-stream including a plurality of data units encoded according to a scan pattern comprising at least one U-pattern, and decodes a data unit among the plurality of data units by using at least one data unit included among the plurality of data units, the at least one other data unit being decoded prior to the data unit according to the scan pattern. When the plurality of data units are included in a data cluster, the method includes scanning the plurality of data units according to the at least one U-pattern, and the scanning includes scanning and decoding the data unit, followed by scanning and decoding a neighboring data unit horizontally or vertically adjacent to the data unit.

摘要: Disclosed are techniques for coding coefficients of a video block having a non-square shape defined by a width and a height, comprising coding one or more of x- and y-coordinates that indicate a position of a last non-zero coefficient within the block according to an associated scanning order, including coding each coordinate by determining one or more contexts used to code the coordinate based on one of the width and the height that corresponds to the coordinate, and coding the coordinate by performing a context adaptive entropy coding process based on the contexts. Also disclosed are techniques for coding information that identifies positions of non-zero coefficients within the block, including determining one or more contexts used to code the information based on one or more of the width and the height, and coding the information by performing a context adaptive entropy coding process based on the contexts.

摘要: A receiver receives coded coefficient values of enhancement layer video blocks. A control unit defines one or more vectors of transform coefficients for decoding of the enhancement layer blocks, and selects a prediction mode for the enhancement layer blocks based on the vectorized entropy decoding. Each of the vectors comprises one or more of the transform coefficients in a scan order having an end position indicated by a vector control signal. The control unit selects weighted prediction when the vectorized entropy decoding establishes two or more vectors, and selects non-weighted prediction when the defined vectorized entropy coding establishes a single vector. A prediction unit performs predictive decoding based on the prediction mode. An entropy decoding unit performs the vectorized entropy decoding. A scanning unit scans the enhancement layer video blocks from the vectors into two-dimensional blocks of transform coefficients, and separately entropy decodes the vectors.

摘要: Provided is an apparatus for decoding a moving picture that determines a quantization step size of a previous coding block according to scan order as the quantization step size predictor of the current coding block when a quantization step size of a left coding block of a current coding block and a quantization step size of an above coding block of the current coding block are unavailable and determines an available motion vector encountered first when retrieving motion vectors in the order of motion vector of a first predetermined position and motion vector of a second predetermined position in a reference picture as a temporal motion vector candidate. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the amount of coding bits required to decode motion information and the quantization step size of the current prediction block.

摘要: An exemplary embodiment of the invention relates to a method of using pattern vectors for image coding and decoding. The method comprises converting a block of image data into a set of transform coefficients, quantizing the transform coefficients such that a number of the coefficients become zero, constructing a single entity or bit vector indicating which coefficients are non-zero, coding the single entity or bit vector as an integer using an adaptive, semi-adaptive or non-adaptive arithmetic coder, coding the values of the coefficients in any fixed order, using an adaptive, semi-adaptive or non-adaptive arithmetic coder, or some other coder, and coding all coefficients except the zero coefficients. The system and method of decoding data relate to the corresponding hardware and process steps performed by the decoder when decoding a bitstream coded as described herein.
