摘要: Improved methods are provided for the production of consistent quality combined and/or pH-adjusted ruminant feed products using commercial byproducts (e.g., wet distiller's grain products (WDG) and solubles syrup derived from ethanol production) of variable ingredient make-up and density. In a preferred method, continuous streams of WDG and solubles syrup (12, 13) are monitored to determine respective parameters related to the instantaneous mass of the materials therein such as instantaneous density or mass, and such parameters are used to at least in part control the proportions of the WDG and solubles syrup streams (12, 13) used to make a combined product. If desired, these same parameters may be used to adjust the pH of the WDG stream or the combined product.

摘要: The present invention relates to a liquid milk-substituting food concentrate based on milk whey and/or derivatives derived therefrom and to methods for the preparation thereof, which concentrate can inter alia be very suitably used for the preparation of calf milk which has a good storage stability and which can obviate many of the drawbacks of conventional calf milk. In a liquid milk-substituting food concentrate based on milk whey according to the invention, lactose has been converted for more than 25% by conversions comprising at least a lactic acid fermentation. Further, the food concentrate comprises one or more organic acids other than lactic acid which have been added in a ratio of organic acid:lactic acid of 1:30 to 8:1.

摘要: A method of improving the storage and handling characteristics of a condensed whey permeate (“CWP”) comprising the steps of: (a) obtaining a CWP that: (i) has a total solids content in the range of about 20% to about 75% by weight and has a water content in the range of about 80% to about 25% by weight; (ii) has a lactose concentration of at least 70% by weight of the total solids content; and (iii) is at a pH of less than 8; and (b) treating the CWP with at least a sufficient proportion of alkali to raise the pH to at least 8. Also, a method comprising the steps of: (a) obtaining a CWP that does not exhibit substantial crystallization; and (b) treating the CWP with at least a sufficient proportion of alkali to reduce the amount of crystallization obtained using a 30 mesh screen for a sample of the treated CWP relative to a sample of the untreated CWP when tested after storing for 7 days at a temperature range having an upper limit that is at least 28° C. (50° F.) below the sufficient temperature to dissolve at a pH of about 7 an equivalent concentration of lactose in water to the concentration of lactose to water that is in the untreated CWP.

摘要: A method of preparing a ruminant feed material with decreased nitrogen solubility, comprising mixing a liquid feed product containing a salt with a protein feedstuff. The protein feedstuff contains crude protein in an amount from 30% to 70% by weight. The liquid feed product containing a salt and the protein feedstuff are mixed under conditions sufficient to decrease the nitrogen solubility of the protein source. Also provided is a ruminant feed material with decreased nitrogen solubility.

摘要: There is disclosed a solid animal feed supplement which is prepared in concentrated food industry by-products such as by-products of the dairy industry, such as whey permeates, delactosed whey, and by-products of the fermentation industry, such as whey and corn sweet water. The invention comprises the treatment of the protein-rich by-products with a mild enzymatic treatment which stabilizes the by-products against protein gelation, and the thermal, and/or enzymatic treatment of the lactose-rich by-products to avoid separation of the lactose from concentrates. The by-products can then be concentrated to high solids content, in excess of 50 weight percent, and the resultant concentrates can be treated with gelation agents, preferably phosphoric acid and lime to solidify the by-product. Feed nutrients such as fats, urea, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, etc., or drugs such as monisan, can be added before solidification forming useful solid animal feed supplements.

摘要: A feed-stuff for young animals, particularly piglets, to be administered during the first weeks of life and comprising starch, vitamins, and minerals, whereby it has a composition which in general resembles the composition of the mother's milk with regard to the ratio of casein to whey proteins, the lactose content has been adopted to the lactose content of the mother's milk, that the starch present is gelatinized and is substantially free of fibers and other mineral and trace substance binding carbohydrate complexes, and it contains organic, acidifying compounds to maintain a low pH in the stomach.
