Abstract:
A method for forming an aperture includes stamping an aperture into the article using a pellet, and refining aperture shape(s) and/or aperture dimensions. Methods for forming articles having reduced residual compressive stress are also disclosed. Very generally, the methods include establishing a diamond coating on at least a portion of a substrate, and applying a stress-relief process to the diamond coating, the substrate, or combinations thereof.
Abstract:
A perforating device capable of perforating a process for perforating a fluid duct having a connector seat with a tapped barrel. The device generally includes a hollow cylindrical body, a cutting apparatus, a fluid passage and a valve. The cylindrical body has an internal volume, a longitudinal axis, a first open end, a second end opposite the first, and a threaded external surface. The cylindrical body can be threadingly received or retracted within the barrel such that the cylindrical body moves along the barrel toward or away from the fluid duct. The cutting apparatus is operably coupled to an end of the cylindrical body and is adapted to cut the duct by screwing the body into the barrel. The valve seals the internal volume of the cylindrical body in response to a differential pressure between the interior of the duct and the ambient atmosphere to prevent leakage from the duct.
Abstract:
Floor panel, which, at least at two opposite edges, is provided with coupling means allowing to couple two of such floor panels to each other at the respective edges, such that the respective floor panels, in the coupled condition, are locked in a vertical direction perpendicular to the plane of the coupled floor panels, as well as in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the respective edges and in the plane of the coupled floor panels, wherein the locking in at least one of the aforementioned directions is obtained by at least an element which preferably is resilient and, during the coupling movement, moves in the direction of the edges concerned.
Abstract:
A cutting tool has: a rotatable hollow tube with an inlet at a distal end of the tube and a cutting edge at the perimeter of the inlet, the tube being arranged so as to rotate when in use so as to cut a work piece with the cutting edge; and an auger housed within the hollow tube, the auger being arranged so as to rotate when in use so as to feed cut material from the inlet along the hollow tube, wherein a distal end of the auger is set back from the cutting edge of the tube.
Abstract:
A tool-in-tool device driven by a single power spindle performs multiple operations on a workpiece. The device includes a first tool holder for holding a tool such as a drill, and a second tool holder surrounding mounted on the first tool holder. The second tool holder may hold a second tool such as clamp for clamping the drill to the workpiece, a guide bushing for guiding the drill and a chip breaker for breaking workpiece chips generated by a drilling operation. Multiple interchangeable bushings allow matching the bushing to the size of the drill.
Abstract:
There is provided a cylinder apparatus consisting of a cylinder, a piston performing reciprocating motion between a top dead point and a bottom dead point with oscillatory movement in the cylinder, wherein the cylinder has an oscillatory distance between the top dead point and the bottom dead point, which is shorter than the oscillatory distance at the top and bottom dead points.
Abstract:
The ceramic drill bit has a particular geometry and is very advantageously applicable to the very high-speed drilling of parts made of a composite, especially a carbon-fiber composite having an epoxy resin matrix. The invention also relates to a method for the high-speed drilling of composites.
Abstract:
An extrication tool for enlarging openings or separating, spreading, or breaking apart materials, fastened to different structural geometry. The extrication tool generally includes a threaded conical shape with a wide aggressive thread with separate portions of the conical surface having different thread pitches, increasing from its tip end to its large distal end. In one form, an optional radial flange at the drive end restricts the device from penetrating into the materials acted upon.
Abstract:
A method of making a hole in a composite material comprising the steps of providing an elongate cutting tool having a cutting portion in the form of a tubular cylinder; and advancing the cutting tool in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the cutting tool whilst rotating the cutting tool about said axis and vibrating the cutting tool along said axis.
Abstract:
A drill press includes a head stock, a pinion shaft, and a quill coupled with the pinion shaft. A pinion shaft hub is connected with an outer end of the pinion shaft and is located adjacent a side wall of the head stock. The pinion shaft hub is rotatable for rotating the pinion shaft, which provides reciprocating movement to the quill along a vertical axis. A stationary zeroing element is mounted on the head stock, and a depth scale is mounted on the pinion shaft hub adjacent the stationary zeroing element. The depth scale and the pinion shaft hub are frictionally coupled together so that the depth scale normally rotates simultaneously with the pinion shaft hub, however, the depth scale is rotatable relative to the pinion shaft hub upon exceeding a friction force that normally resists movement of the depth scale relative to the pinion shaft hub.
