Abstract:
A WOUND CORE HAVING A PLURALITY OF TURNS OF MAGNETIC STRIP MATERIAL WITH A PREDETERMINED AMOUNT OF LOOSENESS BETWEEN THE SUPERPOSED TURNS, AND AT LEAST ONE SPACE BETWEEN ADJACENT SUPERPOSED TURNS HAVING A DEGREE OF LOOSENESS PREDETERMINATELY GREATER THAN THAT BETWEEN THE OTHER TURNS. THE SUPERPOSED TURNS OF SAID WOUND CORE ARE ROTATED IN ONE DIRECTION TO OBTAIN THE PREDETERMINED LOOSENESS AND THEN ROTATED IN THE OTHER DIRECTION TO REDISTRIBUTE A PORTION OF SAID LOOSENESS INTO A DESIRED SECTION OF THE CORE.
Abstract:
IN UNCOILING AN OPEN COIL OF STEEL STRIP ARRANGED WITH ITS AXIS VERTICAL AND RECOILING THE STRIP INTO A TIGHT COIL ALSO ARRANGED WITH ITS AXIS VERTICAL, THE STRIP PASSES AROUND A VERTICAL TENSION DRUM WITH A VERTICAL SNUBBER ROLL BEARING AGAINST THE STRIP ON THE TENSION DRUM IN ORDER TO POSITION THE STRIP IN A DESIRED VERTICAL POSITION. THE SNUBBER ROLL HAS A SPLINE CONNECTION WITH A ROTATABLE SHAFT FIXED IN A VERTICAL POSITION. MOVEMENT OF THE STRIP CAUSES ROTATION OF THE SNUBBER ROLL AND ITS SHAFT. THE SNUBBER ROLL IS CONNECTED
TO TWO DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED NUTS WHICH ENGAGE VERTICAL THREADED GUIDE RODS WHICH ARE ROTATED IN UNISON BY A REVERSIBLE MOTOR. IF THE STRIP WANDERS FROM ITS DESIRED POSITION THE OPERATOR RUNS THE MOTOR IN THE DESIRED POSITION TO RAISE OR LOWER THE SNUBBER ROLL WHILE THE COILING CONTINUES TO RETURN THE STRIP TO THE DESIRED POSITION.
Abstract:
Method and device for winding at least one thin elongated fiber optical element onto a rotating drum so as to form a closely wound coil of the fiber optical element in making a fiber optical system from the coil. The fiber optical element is fed to the drum from a direction in retard of the displacement of the point on the drum at which the fiber optical element successively contacts the drum so as to be wound thereon as the drum rotates, thus permitting the fiber optical element windings to be wound on the drum in close contact with each other. An elastic roller is provided in elastically pressing contact with the drum along the entire portion on the drum where the fiber optical element contacts the drum as the same is rotated, thus positively preventing adjacent windings of the fiber optical element to overlap while permitting the adjacent windings on the drum to be kept in close contact with each other.
Abstract:
Apparatus for tightening a bundle of flexible steel mat by applying torque to its center as it is wound by rolling on a supporting cradle so that successive convolutions of the mat will be snugly engaged about the bundle, the torque being applied by members that have gripping engagement with opposite edges of the mat at the center of the bundle. The gripping members which apply the torque are rotated by rotary air motors that form part of a mechanical drive and are mounted for vertical floating movement so that they move upwardly with the center of the bundle as its vertical spacing with respect to the supporting cradle increases with the diameter of the bundle. Provision is made for increasing the torque developed by the air motors as the bundle increases in size, this being accomplished by a vertical cam which operates a control valve to increase the pressure of the air supplied to the motors as the torque applying members move upwardly with the center of the bundle.

Abstract:
A coated steel sheet and press hardened steel part having a composition including, by weight percent: C 0.26-0.40%, Mn 0.5-1.8%, Si 0.1-1.25%, Al 0.01-0.1%, Cr 0.1-1.0%, Ti 0.01-0.1%, B 0.001-0.004%, P 0.020%, S 0.010%, N 0.010% the remainder of the composition being iron and unavoidable impurities resulting from the smelting. The press hardened steel part includes a bulk having a microstructure including, in surface fraction, more than 95% of martensite and less than 5% of bainite, a coating layer at the surface of the steel part, a ferritic interdiffusion layer between the coating layer and the bulk, and a ratio between the ferritic grain width in the interdiffusion layer GWint over prior austenite grain size in the bulk PAGSbulk, satisfying following equation (GWint/PAGSbulk)−1≥30%.
Abstract:
A coiling device that includes a coiler (1) having a coiling mandrel (3) for coiling a metal strip, and a coiling swing arm (4) having front and a rear pressure rollers (5, 6) and a deflection plate (7). A swing arm drive (8) lines up the coiling swing arm (4) with the coiling mandrel (3) and is driven away from the coiling mandrel (3). An upper duct flap (9) upstream of the coiler (1) in the feed direction (x) guides the metal strip (2). A flap drive (10) positions the upper duct flap (9) such that, when the coiling swing arm (4) is lined up with the coiling mandrel (3), the upper duct flap is arranged between the coiling mandrel (3) and the front pressure roller (5) of the coiling swing arm (4) or is arranged upstream of the front pressure roller (5) of the coiling swing arm (4).
