    摘要: Molecularly oriented plastic films have five molecularly oriented layers. A first layer provides a barrier to gaseous transmission through the film and has a composition of 0% to 50% nylon or nylon copolymer, and conversely 50% to 100% ethylene vinyl alcohol. Second and third adhesive layers are adhered to the surfaces of the first layer, and have compositions comprising olefinic polymers, or copolymers, or blends thereof, the compositions having carboxyl modifications therein. Fourth and fifth layers are adhered to the second and third layers on the respective surfaces opposite the first layer. The fourth and fifth layers comprise 40% to 100% ethylene vinyl acetate and 0% to 60% linear low density polyethylene. Also disclosed are processes for making the oriented five layer films.

    摘要: Porous hollow fibers composed of a high density polyethylene the fibers having rectangular micropores that are oriented in the lengthwise direction of the fibers and having a porosity from 30 to 90% by volume are disclosed. Membranes composed of hollow fibers exhibit a water permeability of greater than 65 (ml/m.sup.2, hr, mmHg) as well as a human serum albumin permeability of greater than 30%. Such fibers are suited for use as filters, particularly as a membrane for simple fractionation of whole blood into it plasma and cellular components. The hollow fibers are obtained by spinning a high-density polyethylene under a high-draft condition followed by cold stretching and hot stretching, and without the use of any solvent or plasticizer.

    摘要: Polyimide film is manufactured by solvent casting onto a film-supporting surface. A solution of polyimide resin is dissolved in hot organic solvent to provide a casting dope. The film is coagulated by contacting an aqueous medium, substantially replacing the organic solvent in the film with water. Orienting the water-containing film and drying the oriented film to remove water produces a substantially homogeneous polyimide film having high electrical resistance, flexibility and strength.

    摘要: A layered film of thermoplastic material and method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The film is defined by a plurality of superposed layers, the material forming a pair of adjacent layers having molecular chains oriented in certain directions which respectively cross each other at an angle in a range of between 5.degree. and 90.degree.. The film is manufactured by heating solid thermoplastic material to its softening point, conveying the viscous molten mass so formed while mechanically working the same to an annular material shaping opening of a rotary die or matrix from which the material is discharged in the form of a tubular segment which is directed into the nip defined by a pair of rotating stretching cylinders which flatten the tubular segment to form the layered film and which are rotated at a speed which tends to orient the molecular chains in an axial or machine direction. Gas is injected into the space defined within the tubular segment which tends to orient the molecular chains in a circumferential or transverse direction. According to the invenion, the die is rotated at a certain speed which, in combination with the take off speed of the rotating cylinders and the blow ratio acts to relocate the frost line of the tubular segment so that the desired molecular orientation is imparted to the film layers prior to the solidification of the viscous molten material.

    摘要: An apparatus for making biaxially stretched tubular films of thermoplastic synthetic resin which permits operation in a stabilized manner and economically by using the hot air used in stretching a bubble again in heating a raw film. In said apparatus, a suction ring is provided in the section where a heated raw film is inflated by the gas filled therein under pressure, and the diameter of the resulting stretched bubble reaches its maximum diameter. The suction ring sucks the air used for heating the stretching part simultaneously with the air used for cooling it after stretching to attain a thermal interception effect between the stretching part and the cooling part after stretching. Air flow around the stretching bubble is made uniform.
