    摘要: Dehydrogenatable hydrocarbons may be subjected to a dehydrogenation reaction by treating the hydrocarbons in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst comprising an alkaline metal-promoted iron compound. The effluent is then subjected to a selective oxidation step in which the hydrogenation produced from the first reaction is oxidized in preference to the dehydrogenated and unconverted hydrocarbons. The catalyst which is used to effect this selective oxidation comprises a Group VIII noble metal, a Group IVA metal and a Group IA or IIA metal composited on a metal oxide support. The present invention is concerned with the use of a cerium-containing alumina as a support for this selective oxidation catalyst.

    摘要: A catalyst for the production of styrene comprising 40-87.5 % by weight of iron oxide as Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, 11-50% by weight of cerium oxide as Ce.sub.2 O.sub.3, and 1.5-40% by weight of potassium oxide as K.sub.2 O. By use of the catalyst, styrene can be produced at high conversions and high selectivies under reaction conditions wherein the amount of steam used as a source of heat is reduced.

    摘要: A method to synthesize styrene from toluene by: (a) oxidizing toluene to form oxygenated toluene derivatives; (b) carbonylating said oxygenated products in the presence of a carbonylation catalyst and preferably a halogen promoter to produce phenylacetic acid; (c) hydrogenating said phenylacetic acid to synthesize phenylethyl alcohol; and (d) dehydrating said phenylethyl alcohol to obtain a high yield of styrene. In a preferred embodiment, a two-step, three-phase separation process can be employed for the separation and recovery of the phenylacetic acid formed in step (b) from the carbonylation catalyst and the halogen promoter which may have been employed in the carbonylation step (b) mentioned above by first separating the carbonylation product mixture into a gas-phase mixture and a liquid-phase mixture containing the phenylacetic acid, the carbonylation catalyst and the promoter; and then crystallizing the phenylacetic acid contained in the liquid-phase mixture in order to separate and thereafter recover the crystallized phenylacetic acid from the remaining liquid-phase mixture containing the carbonylation catalyst and the promoter.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process of converting ethylbenzene to styrene by catalytic dehydrogenation at temperatures of about 600.degree. C. in the presence of water vapor in a tubular reactor. The heat required for the dehydrogenation is fed to the tubular reactor with a molten salt bath. The dehydrogenation is effected isothermally and in a single stage under atmospheric pressure or preferable under a subatmospheric pressure with a water vapor-ethylbenzene ratio of 1.2 to 1.5 kg of water vapor per kg of ethylbenzene. The temperature of the ethylbenzene-water-vapor mixture entering the tubular reactor is maintained 50.degree. to 100.degree. C. below the temperature of the molten salt bath.

    摘要: This invention provides a process for the production of cyclic hydrocarbons from light olefinic hydrocarbons which involves contacting n-octene feed with a Group VIII metal oxide catalyst in the presence of molecular oxygen at temperatures of 130.degree.-500.degree. C. and a pressure of 1-200 psi to yield vinylcyclohexene and ethylbenzene.The invention further provides a two step vapor phase process embodiment for converting n-octene feed to styrene via a vinylcyclohexene/ethylbenzene intermediate mixture. When nitrobenzene is employed as the oxidizing agent in place of molecular oxygen, aniline is obtained as an additional product.
