Abstract: Examples of the disclosure describe systems and methods for estimating acoustic properties of an environment. In an example method, a first audio signal is received via a microphone of a wearable head device. An envelope of the first audio signal is determined, and a first reverberation time is estimated based on the envelope of the first audio signal. A difference between the first reverberation time and a second reverberation time is determined. A change in the environment is determined based on the difference between the first reverberation time and the second reverberation time. A second audio signal is presented via a speaker of a wearable head device, wherein the second audio signal is based on the second reverberation time.

Abstract: A system is provided for communication through or along a barrier. The system includes a transmitter unit for transmitting a signal comprising a transmitter housing, a transmitter fixation element for fixing a first side of the transmitter housing against a barrier, an exciter embedded in or protruding from the first side of the transmitter housing, such that the exciter is applied against the barrier by the fixation element, and an audio input. The transmitter further includes circuitry for driving the exciter based on a signal received at the audio input. The system further includes a receiver unit for receiving a signal comprising a receiver housing, a receiver fixation element for fixing a first side of the receiver housing against the barrier, a vibration sensor for detecting vibrations generated by the exciter, an audio output, and circuitry for driving the audio output based on a signal detected by the vibration sensor.

Abstract: An interactive system can utilize microtechnology (e.g., a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS)), such as miniaturized microphone (e.g., a bone-conducting microphone), audio output device, microprocessor, and signal conversion and propagation means to create a personal area network (PAN) for a user. The system can include a voice input device (e.g., worn on one or more teeth of the user) that outputs a near-field magnetic induction (NFMI) signal based on a whisper input by the user. The NFMI signal is either detected by the user's mobile device, or converted into a wireless signal (e.g., a Bluetooth RF signal) detectable by the user's mobile device, for receiving voice commands (e.g., to provide personal assistant services) via a designated application running on the mobile device.

Abstract: An earmuff module of a headphone includes a back cover, a sound-receiving hole, a microphone assembly, and an earmuff. The back cover includes a peripheral side wall. The sound-receiving hole is formed on the peripheral side wall of the back cover and penetrates through the peripheral side wall. The microphone assembly is disposed on an inner surface of the peripheral side wall and corresponds to the sound-receiving hole, and is acoustically connected with the sound-receiving hole. The earmuff is detachably assembled on the back cover, and the earmuff includes a foam and a wrapping cover. The wrapping cover includes an extension part and a covering part. The covering part covers the foam. The extension part extends from one end of the covering part to an outer surface of the peripheral side wall and covers the sound-receiving hole. The microphone assembly is located within a range covered by the extension part.
