摘要: Disclosed are methods for detecting misconfigured VLANs. In some embodiments, traffic on a VLAN across multiple access points is categorized. Traffic on the VLAN at a single access point is then also categorized. The categorization of the VLAN traffic at the single access point can be in response to, for example, communication errors or other conditions. The two categorizations are then compared to determine if the VLAN traffic at the AP is consistent with the VLAN traffic across a network (e.g., an enterprise network). If the VLAN traffic at the AP is generally consistent with that across the network, this may indicate that a downstream network component, such as a switch or router, is misconfigured. Thus, some embodiments programmatically reconfigure the downstream component to forward traffic for the VLAN.

摘要: Some embodiments provide a novel method for deploying different virtual networks over several public cloud datacenters for different entities. For each entity, the method (1) identifies a set of public cloud datacenters of one or more public cloud providers to connect a set of machines of the entity, (2) deploys managed forwarding nodes (MFNs) for the entity in the identified set of public cloud datacenters, and then (3) configures the MFNs to implement a virtual network that connects the entity's set of machines across its identified set of public cloud datacenters. In some embodiments, the method identifies the set of public cloud datacenters for an entity by receiving input from the entity's network administrator. In some embodiments, this input specifies the public cloud providers to use and/or the public cloud regions in which the virtual network should be defined. Conjunctively, or alternatively, this input in some embodiments specifies actual public cloud datacenters to use.

摘要: Techniques are disclosed for using a forwarding microchip to implement a network functions virtualization (NFV) backplane within a network device. In one example, processing circuitry of a forwarding microchip establishes a respective logical connection between each of a plurality of virtual ports of the forwarding microchip and each of a plurality of virtual ports configured for respective software-implemented virtual network functions (VNFs) executing on the network device. The processing circuitry receives packets via one or more physical ports of the forwarding microchip and forwards, using the logical connections between each of the plurality of virtual ports of the forwarding microchip and each of the plurality of virtual ports configured for the respective software-implemented VNFs, the packets to a Network Interface Controller (NIC) for forwarding to the plurality of virtual ports configured for the respective software-implemented VNFs.

摘要: Some embodiments provide a method for handling failure at one of several peer centralized components of a logical router. At a first one of the peer centralized components of the logical router, the method detects that a second one of the peer centralized components has failed. In response to the detection, the method automatically identifies a network layer address of the failed second peer. The method assumes responsibility for data traffic to the failed peer by broadcasting a message on a logical switch that connects all of the peer centralized components and a distributed component of the logical router. The message instructs recipients to associate the identified network layer address with a data link layer address of the first peer centralized component.
