Abstract: A method of receiving a broadcast signal in a receiver. The received broadcast signal is demodulated. The demodulated broadcast signal is parsed to output at least one signal frame. The at least one signal frame includes first data, second data, and signaling data. The signaling data is decoded. The first data and the second data are decoded with different code rates, respectively. The at least one signal frame includes known data for channel estimation. The at least one signal frame includes a plurality of subframes, and the subframes include a plurality of data units. A first data unit in the data units includes the first data, and a second data unit in the data units includes the second data. The signaling data includes information for fast service acquisition which allows the receiver to locate upper layer signaling information. The signaling data further includes information on encoding type of data.

Abstract: A method of processing broadcast data in a broadcast transmitting system, the method includes randomizing, by a hardware processor, the broadcast data; first encoding, by the hardware processor, the randomized broadcast data to add first parity data for first forward error correction; second encoding, by the hardware processor, the first-encoded broadcast data to add second parity data for second forward error correction; permuting the second-encoded broadcast data; block interleaving, by the hardware processor, the permuted broadcast data; third encoding signaling information for signaling the broadcast data to add parity data; fourth encoding the third-encoded signaling information at a code rate; block interleaving the fourth-encoded signaling information; modulating the block-interleaved broadcast data and the block-interleaved signaling information; and transmitting a broadcast signal including the modulated broadcast data and the modulated signaling information.

Abstract: A method of transmitting a broadcast signal includes encoding mobile service data to build a Reed-Solomon (RS) frame according to an RS frame mode, wherein the mobile service data is either a mobile service data of a base layer or a mobile service data of the base layer and at least one enhancement layer, wherein each layer is specified by a layer identifier, wherein a layer identifier value of the base layer is set to 0 and a layer identifier value of the at least one enhancement layer starts from 1; and encoding signaling data, wherein the signaling data includes fast information channel (FIC) data and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, and the FIC data includes information for rapid mobile service acquisition.

Abstract: A method of processing broadcast data in a broadcast transmitting system includes Reed-Solomon (RS) encoding and cyclic redundancy check (CRC) encoding enhanced data bytes; converting the RS-CRC encoded enhanced data bytes into enhanced data bits; encoding each of the converted enhanced data bits with one of a first coding rate and a second coding rate, thereby outputting data symbols; first interleaving the data symbols; converting the first interleaved data symbols into data bytes; forming a first data group including enhanced data corresponding to the converted data bytes; deinterleaving data of the first data group; outputting enhanced data packets including the deinterleaved data of the first data group; multiplexing the enhanced data packets with main data packets including main data; second interleaving data of the multiplexed data packets; and trellis encoding the second interleaved data.

Abstract: A broadcasting signal receiver and a method for transmitting/receiving a broadcasting signal are disclosed. An identifier of a cell is configured in second program table information or signaling information of the broadcasting signal. If the cell is changed, channel information of the changed cell can be obtained from second program table information in which transmission channel information of each cell for a broadcasting program is configured. Accordingly, the broadcasting signal receiver can continuously output the program although the cell is changed.

Abstract: A digital broadcasting system and a method of processing data are disclosed. Herein, additional encoding is performed on mobile service data, which are then transmitted, thereby providing robustness in the processed mobile service data, so that the mobile service data can respond more strongly against fast and frequent channel changes. In a transmitting system including a service multiplexer and a transmitter located in a remote site, a method of processing data of the transmitting system includes comparing an output data rate of the service multiplexer and a transmission data rate of the transmitter, when a difference occurs between the two data rates, adjusting a burst size, wherein the burst transmits mobile service data, and encoding the mobile service data, and referring to the burst size so as to multiplex main service data and the encoded mobile service data in a burst structure.

Abstract: A digital broadcasting system and a method of processing data are disclosed. A receiving system of the digital broadcasting system may include a signal receiving unit, a demodulating unit, a demultiplexer, and an audio/video decoder. The signal receiving unit receives a broadcast signal including main service data and an RS frame including a plurality of MPH service data packets. The demodulating unit demodulates data of the RS frame. The demultiplexer identifies an MPH service data packet including an IP datagram of mobile service data with reference to an MPH header of each MPH service data packet in the RS frame, and when a stuffing data is inserted in the identified payload of MPH service data packet, removes the stuffing data from the payload and separates an audio and video data from IP datagram of the mobile service data of the payload, and outputs the separated audio and video data.
