Abstract:
An integrated image module for a document scanner includes a one piece die cast housing having a datum element and a support element. An imaging sensor array is enclosed in the housing. An array bias element urges the imaging sensor array against the datum element to provide accurate placement of the sensor array relative to the housing. A transport mechanism is attached to the housing so that the position of the transport mechanism accurately corresponds to the position of the imaging sensor array. The lens and the lamp for illumination are also attached to the housing so that the primary components of the imaging portion of the scanner are contained in a single module.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device includes a semiconductor chip with a functional surface, a substrate opposing the functional surface of the semiconductor chip at a space formed between the substrate and the functional surface, a power supplying device electrically connected to a part of the functional surface of the semiconductor chip and separated by a slight gap from the substrate, a fixing member that fixes the semiconductor chip to the substrate, and a sealing member that seals the space formed between the substrate and the functional surface of the semiconductor chip other than a space formed between the substrate and the functional surface of the semiconductor chip that are fixed to each other through the fixing member and other than the gap formed between the power supplying device and the substrate. The sealing member has greater elasticity than the fixing member.

A contact image sensor (CIS) for scanning a document is disclosed. The CIS includes a housing having an opening, a first slide and a second slide, a light guide installed on the housing through the opening and the first slide for scanning the document and generating a reflective image, a rod lens installed on the housing through the opening and the second slide for receiving the reflective image and generating a focused image, a PCB installed on the housing and having a sensing array for transforming the focused image into an image signal, and a spring cover fixed on the opening for fixing the light guide and the rod lens in the housing to form the CIS.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an image scanning unit which has: a CCD substrate which is mounted on a block; three groups of adjustment fastening members to position the CCD substrate in three dimensional directions orthogonal to one another; and a springy member to press each of the adjustment fastening members against receiving part of each of the adjustment fastening members; wherein the three groups of adjustment fastening members are of a first group of fastening members to conduct the focus adjustment by independently positioning the CCD substrate in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the CCD substrate at both ends of CCD in the longitudinal direction, a second group of fastening members to conduct the sub-scanning adjustment by independently positioning the CCD substrate in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the CCD substrate within the plane of the CCD substrate at both ends of CCD in the longitudinal direction, and a third group of fastening member tot conduct the main-scanning adjustment by independently positioning the CCD substrate in a direction along the longitudinal direction of the CCD substrate within the plane of the CCD substrate.
Abstract:
An optical imaging assembly comprises a mounting surface and at least one semiconductor die having a face and an edge portion. The edge portion of the at least one semiconductor die is mounted to the mounting surface. A light sensitive optical detector is located on the face of the at least one semiconductor die. An optical system is mounted to the mounting surface adjacent the at least one semiconductor die.
Abstract:
A raster input scanner (RIS) comprising a platen and light source, doubling mirror, lens and two CCD arrays for producing a bit stream output with twice the resolution produceable with a single CCD is disclosed. The doubling mirror is between the platen and lens, and produces two beams separated by a small angle. The lens focuses these beams as two lines at the image plane, where half of each intersects each CCD array. Glass plates, each intersecting and perpendicular to each beam, and rotatable about orthogonal axes, provide horizontal and vertical fine tuning.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass provided at an upper surface of a main body of the apparatus to set a manuscript thereon, an image sensor being positioned below the contact glass and having a reading surface on contact glass side for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass, a carriage supporting the image sensor accommodated in a sensor container formed to have a recess open to the contact glass side, a rail member slidably supporting the carriage, and a biasing member biasing the image sensor to the contact glass side via a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor. An upper end of the biasing member is positioned below the contact glass and above the lower surface of the image sensor.

An image reading apparatus includes: a contact glass setting a manuscript thereon; an image sensor extending in a first direction and having a reading surface which faces the contact glass for reading an image from the manuscript on the contact glass; a rail member extending inside the apparatus main body in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; a carriage having a sensor container to contain the image sensor, a taper end portion formed in an end portion in the first direction to become smaller in height toward the end side, and an opening formed in the bottom of the sensor container on the taper end portion side; a biased portion adjacent to the reading surface of the image sensor in the second direction; and a biasing member biasing the image sensor toward the contact glass via the biased portion.
Abstract:
There is provided a light guide body that extends in a rod shape and guides light incident from an end surface thereof to emit the light from a circumferential surface thereof, the light guide body having a shape such that according to an angle of a circumferential direction around the light guide body, an amount of emitting light in a directoin of the angle is different. There is also provided a static elimination device and an image forming apparatus which include the light guide body.
