    摘要: A length measuring instrument includes a flexible measuring band which slides in a groove defined by a scale carrier body. The measuring band is fixed at one end to the carrier body. The second, free end of the measuring band is fastened in an oscillator which excites this free end into high frequency, low amplitude vibrations. These vibrations act virtually to eliminate harmful friction between the measuring band and the scale carrier body, and to reduce fouling of the measuring band markedly.

    摘要: This invention relates to a digital indication type dimension measuring instrument provided with a shock absorbing mechanism for controlling an overspeed of a spindle. The shock absorbing mechanism is provided with a pressure adjusting device which comprises a valve chamber having a communication hole communicated with a pressure chamber in a cylinder, an open hole communicated with the atmosphere and a ball valve for suitably opening or blocking the communication hole. When the spindle is inclined to a predetermined angle of inclination or more, the ball valve opens the communication hole to release a pressure fluid in the cylinder to the atmosphere.

In an advantageous manner, an adjustment of the displacement pickup can be performed with the aid of a cylindrical tang, which is displaceable and fixable in a through bore in the wall of a housing receiving the adjusting device and through the interior of which an adjusting device of the displacement pickup can be adjusted from outside the housing. In a displacement pickup advantageously embodied as a rotary potentiometer, a contact means of a resistor (R.sub.a) of the resistance course of the potentiometer can thus be adjusted.

    摘要: The invention provides a measuring machine which includes a stationary measuring contact point and a movable measuring contact point, each of which is positioned so as to oppose each other. Measuring of an object is carried out by putting the object between the stationary measuring contact point and the movable measuring contact point. A spindle carrying the movable measuring contact point is supported by a linear bearing of the crossed roller type. The linear bearing supports the spindle in plural directions. Thus, the sliding motion of the spindle can be carried out smoothly to obtain the precise measuring value.

    摘要: A method of making measurements on a machine having a movable probe for measuring a part in which a present location of the probe is maintained and a past location (e.g., a part measurement) of the probe is also maintained (stored) and advantageously displayed. The measuring apparatus includes two sets of storage members, with the present position information of the probe stored in one set. The present probe position information is transferred to the other storage members in response to a control signal. The control signal, such as an electrical signal indicating contact with an object, causes measurements to be transferred from the one set of storage members to the second set of storage members and, advantageously, the transfer of further information to the second storage members may be locked out of a predetermined time or until an event occurs (such as a resetting signal). The first set of storage members continue to maintain present position information on the probe which may be moving, while an output device (display, etc.) is coupled to the second set of storage members and is not affected by the change in the first set of storage members. The present invention has application of multi-dimension measuring (e.g., coordinate measuring machines) and single dimension measuring (e.g., height gages).

    摘要: An apparatus and method of sorting power transmission belts into groups of substantially equal length. The apparatus is entirely automatic and includes mechanism for transferring seriatim the respective belts from a supply to a measuring drive mechanism. The belt being measured is driven under tension and the length and rideout concurrently determined and fed to a computer. In the event the belt is found to be outsized but capable of being brought into the desired range by grinding the sides thereof, grinding mechanism of the apparatus is actuated to adjust the configuration suitably. The apparatus includes mechanism for discarding outsized belts which cannot be so adjusted. The apparatus includes mechanism for transferring the belts from the measuring drive system to a conveyor and associated mechanism for sorting the measured belts as a function of a signal provided by the computer.

The selection element is mounted within a housing which includes at least one clamping element which operates to clamp the housing in position in a guide groove extending along the measuring scale. The combination of the housing and the clamping element operates to clamp the selection element securely in place in alignment with the selected reference mark.
