    摘要: The invention provides an optical disk that enables high-speed reproduction of address signals. A wobble address system for optical disk supports various types of synchronization, such as phase synchronization, bit synchronization, word synchronization, etc., to be established easily with high detection reliability with the use of an self-orthogonal code. Thus, the invention provides a method for easily synchronizing an address signal, i.e., high-speed reproduction of the address signal. Further, by virtue of an efficient modulation system of the address signal and redundancy thereof, it becomes possible to detect address information with high reliability. This capability is particularly effective in optical recording/reproduction with a blue light source whose signal light quantity and reproduction quality are prone to reduce. Moreover, other additional data of the address data is preserved in the wobbles, which provides medium information to a rewritable optical disk without using embossed pits such that a high-reliability disk (with enhanced security) is realized with a low cost and easily.

    摘要: Light emitted from a laser is divided into two light waves so that the ratio of the power of one light wave to the power of the other will be appropriate. The resultant light waves are irradiated to the same track on a medium. The preceding spot is used for erasure, and modulated so that the same pattern as the one formed with a recording pulse will be formed. The high-power component of the modulated light of the erasing spot causes the temperature of a recording layer to be equal to or higher than the melting point. The medium-power component of the modulated light forms a crystallizing temperature area on the recording layer. A liquid crystal diffraction grating is used to divide power, and a power division ratio is variable and controllable.

    摘要: The invention provides an optical disk that enables high-speed reproduction of address signals. The prepit portion includes first and second prepit portions divided in a track direction with a prepit of the respective first and second prepit portions being arranged on a boundary of the respective tracks. The first prepit portion has an address information prepit and a synchronous information prepit and the second prepit portion has a synchronous information prepit. The prepit of the first prepit portion and the prepit of the second prepit portion are arranged at every two-track pitch in the radial direction and the prepit of the first prepit portion and the prepit of the second prepit portion are arranged with one track displaced in the radial direction. A gap is provided between the first and second prepit portions.

    摘要: An optical reproducing method using an optical recording medium having grooves and lands alternately provided in a radial direction, information recording areas being formed in both of said grooves and said lands, and at least one prepit region where a groove is not formed. In the prepit region, first information marks are disposed on a virtual extension of a first boundary between one groove and one adjacent land and second information marks are disposed on a virtual extension of a second boundary between the one groove and an other adjacent land. The prepit region includes a gap between the first and second information marks. The method includes irradiating an optical spot on the optical recording medium detecting a reflected beam from the optical recording medium, and reproducing information on the optical recording medium by using a signal obtained by the reflected beam.
