Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel (100A) includes a first polarizing plate (22) and a first phase difference plate (32a) disposed on an observer side, and a second polarizing plate (24) and a second phase difference plate (34a) disposed on a back surface side. Δnd of a liquid crystal layer having a homogeneous alignment when no electrical field is applied is 360 nm or greater and 490 nm or less, and an in-plane retardation R1 of the first phase difference plate is 100 nm or greater and 160 nm or less. A thickness direction retardation of at least one of the first and second phase difference plates has a negative value. The slow axes of the first and second phase difference plates are substantially parallel to each other and substantially orthogonal to an azimuthal direction of the liquid crystal director.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel (100) according to an embodiment includes: a first polarizer (22) and a first phase plate (32) on the viewer's side; and a second polarizer (24) and a second phase plate (34) on the rear face side. A liquid crystal layer, which takes a homogeneous alignment in the absence of an applied electric field, has a Δnd of not less than 360 nm and not more than 490 nm; a retardation R1 of the first phase plate is not less than 100 nm and not more than 160 nm; and a retardation R2 of the second phase plate is not less than 200 nm and not more than 360 nm. The slow axes of the first and second phase plates are substantially parallel to each other and substantially orthogonal to the azimuth direction of the director of the liquid crystal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mirror display that enables simultaneous perception of a mirror image and an image with suppressed uncomfortable feeling. The mirror display of the present invention includes a half mirror plate including a half mirror layer, and a display device. Abstract: A scanned antenna (1000) is a scanned antenna including antenna elements (U) arranged together, the scanned antenna including: a TFT substrate (101) including a first dielectric substrate (1), TFTs, gate bus lines, source bus lines, and patch electrodes (15); a slot substrate (201) including a second dielectric substrate (51) a slot electrode (55); a liquid crystal layer (LC) provided between the TFT substrate and the slot substrate; and a reflective conductive plate (65). The slot electrode includes slots (57) arranged so as to correspond to the patch electrodes. As seen from the normal direction to the first dielectric substrate, a plurality of spacer structures (75) provided between the TFT substrate and the slot substrate are arranged so as not to overlap with first regions (Rp1) and/or second regions (Rp2), where the first regions are regions that are within a distance of 0.3 mm from edges of the slots and the second regions are regions that are within a distance of 0.3 mm from edges of the patch electrodes.

Abstract: A mirror display system that enables simultaneous perception of a mirror image and a video image with suppressed uncomfortable feeling includes a half mirror plate including a half mirror layer; a 3D display device; and a control unit being configured to supply a video signal to the 3D display device. The 3D display device is disposed on the back surface side of the half mirror plate and is configured to display, by the video signal, a video image for the left eye and a video image for the right eye that give a parallax on a display surface of the 3D display device. The parallax is set such that a fused video image of the video image for the left eye and the video image for the right eye is perceived on the back surface side behind the display surface of the 3D display device.

Abstract: A display device capable of emitting sufficient fluorescence is provided without an increase in the thickness of the liquid crystal layer. The device includes: a fluorescent emission layer (23) having fluorescent pigment molecules that absorb light to emit fluorescence; and a liquid crystal layer (4) capable of switching between a transparent state and a scattering state. The fluorescent pigment molecules are dichroic fluorescent pigment molecules (23a) with different emission intensities depending on the direction of emission. The dichroic fluorescent pigment molecules (23a) in the fluorescent emission layer (23) are oriented so as to have transition dipole moments with the same direction.
