    摘要: A single-component developing method with the steps of forming a uniform developer layer and developing an electrostatic latent image. The uniform developer layer is formed by abutting a layer regulating member made of a plate of soft, elastic material against a developer carrier and by regulating the developer layer by urging at least one end edge on a portion of the layer regulating member against the devloper carrier. The electrostatic latent image is formed on a photosensitive material and is developed by moving a portion of the developer carrier with the uniform developer layer formed thereon opposite the photosensitive material.

    摘要: A method of detecting a fault of an exhaust gas recirculation system of an internal combustion engine, comprising detecting a temperature relating to a temperature of a gas recirculating through the exhaust gas recirculation system when the system is in a condition in which the system should be operated to return part of an exhaust gas of the engine to an intake passage, and detecting that the exhaust gas recirculation system is defective when the detected temperature is lower than a fault discriminating value. A condition of air to be sucked into the engine, such as intake air temperature and atmospheric pressure, is detected, and the fault discriminating value is set in accordance with the detected air condition, whereby abnormality or fault of the exhaust gas recirculation system can be detected accurately and reliably. Preferably, the fault detection is inhibited until the engine temperature reaches a predetermined value and/or a predetermined time period elapses after the start-up of the engine, whereby erroneous fault detection can be prevented.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a process of making α-aminooxyketone and α-hydroxyketone compounds. The synthetic pathway generally involves reacting an aldehyde or ketone substrate and a nitroso substrate in the presence of a catalyst of the formula (IV): wherein Xa—Xc represent independently nitrogen, carbon, oxygen or sulfur and Z represents a 4 to 10-membered ring with or without a substituent and optionally a further step to convert the α-aminooxyketone compound formed to the α-hydroxyketone compound. The present invention results in α-aminooxyketone and α-hydroxyketone compounds with high enantioselectivity and high purity. The present invention is also directed to a catalytic asymmetric O-nitroso Aldol/Michael reaction. The substrates of this reaction are generally cyclic α,β-unsaturated ketone substrate and a nitroso substrate. This methodology generally involves reacting the cyclic α,β-unsaturated ketone substrate and the nitroso substrate in the presence of a proline-based catalyst, to provide a heterocyclic product.
