Abstract:
A rim for a bicycle wheel with tubeless tyre comprises a radially inner peripheral wall, a radially outer peripheral wall, two circumferential side walls which connect the inner and outer peripheral walls and form two ribs which extend beyond the outer peripheral wall, for anchorage of a tubeless tyre. The inner and outer peripheral walls have two holes facing one another, within which an intermediate tubular element is mounted, connected to which is a valve body of a standard type normally used for bicycle wheels provided with inner tubes.
Abstract:
A tubeless rim includes elongate apertures defined through an inner part thereof and each spoke has an elongate head which is inserted through the aperture and rotated 90 degrees so as to fix the head in a groove in a back of the inner part of the rim.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a rim member having an internal support member associated with the rim member. The internal support member includes an outer peripheral surface having an annular groove with the groove having a transverse passageway to permit a tire to be mounted onto the rim member. The transverse passageway consists of two angular positions which communicate through an intermediate section on the internal support member. The invention also relates to a tire construction having an internal rolling surface which engages the outer peripheral surface of the internal support member during the run-flat condition.

A bicycle hub is provided with spoke openings that extend into the interior of the hub. The bicycle hub basically has a hub axle, a hub body and a seal arranged in the hub body. The hub axle has a center axis extending between a first end and a second end. The hub body has an interior passageway with the hub axle being rotatably supported therein. The hub body also has a set of first spoke openings circumferentially arranged around one end of the hub body and a set of second spoke openings circumferentially arranged around the other end of the hub body. The spoke openings of the hub body are arranged for use with tangential bicycle spokes having a straight section and a bent end with an enlarged head such that straight section extends at an angle of about 95° relative to the bent end. A first seal is arranged in the interior passageway of the hub body and adjacent the first spoke openings to isolate the first spoke openings from the hub axle. A second seal is arranged in the interior passageway of the hub body and adjacent the second spoke openings to isolate the second spoke openings from the hub axle. Preferably, the seals is arranged in the interior passageway of the hub body to form first and second isolated spaces of the interior passageway below the first and second spoke openings.
Abstract:
A bicycle disc brake hub is provided with a hub axle, a hub shell, a first spoke attachment portion, a second spoke attachment portion and a brake rotor attachment portion disposed adjacent the first spoke attachment portion. The first spoke attachment portion has a plurality of first spoke holes, while the second spoke attachment portion has a plurality of second spoke holes. The first spoke attachment portion is disposed at the first hub shell end, while the second spoke attachment portion is disposed at the second hub shell end. The brake rotor attachment portion has a plurality of axially extending rotor mounting holes with predetermined diameters and center axes spaced a second radial distance from the center axis of the hub axle. The first spoke attachment portion and the brake rotor attachment portion are arranged relative to each other such that spokes can easily be installed into the first spoke holes.
Abstract:
A bicycle hub is provided for use with tangential bicycle spokes. The bicycle hub includes a hub axle and a hub body. The hub axle has a set of spoke openings. The spoke openings are circumferentially arranged around the hub body and extend between the external and internal surfaces. Each of the spoke openings has an enlarged insertion portion and a retaining portion. An internal head receiving seat is preferably located adjacent each of the retaining portions. An internal abutment is preferably arranged between each of the insertion portions and each of the head receiving seats. The external surface, the head receiving seats and the abutments are configured to retain the bent ends of the spokes. The external surface preferably has a flute portion extending from each of the retaining portions. The retaining portions and the flute portions are configured to retain the bent ends of the spokes.
Abstract:
A wheel (11) having a rim (12) with a pair of flanges (17, 19) including a peripheral potential roll surface (33) on at least one flange for contacting the ground in the event of tire failure has a convexly contoured roll surface with a finite cross-sectional radius of curvature (42) at the outermost radius of the wheel to provide an optimized shape of the contact surface and an enhanced contact area without introducing any flat regions in the contact area. The roll surface is formed to have a finite radius of curvature throughout the potential roll surface. The roll surface radius of curvature and may be formed in cross-section as a central circular segment (40) blending smoothly into two circular segments (44, 50) of lesser radii at the central circular segment extremities, or may be formed in cross-section as a portion of an ellipse (57) having a semi-minor axis (63) extending generally radially along the respective annular rim portion.
Abstract:
A non-pneumatic tire and rim whereto the tire is fitted as a wheel assembly that will display ride characteristics that are similar to those of a conventional pneumatic tire. The non-pneumatic tire is preferably formed from a urethane foam in a spin casting process with the formed tire having a dense thread, with a less dense internal mid-section and is least dense at a lower area proximate to the tire inner circumference. Identical tire side wall grooves are formed in the tire side walls to receive and provide an interference fit with hook bead ends formed in top ends of sides of a U-shaped rim, with the rim further including upstanding ridges or piers formed along opposite edges of the rim web or wheel well that are to receive and maintain support grooves formed around the tire inner circumference sides supporting the tire inner circumference mid-section between the rim ridges or piers to allow the tire material to flex into an open area above the rim wheel well and below the tire inner circumference, which non-pneumatic tire flexure or flow into that open area occur in response to a compressive force being directed into the tire tread as the wheel rolls over a rock, into a hole, or the like, providing a tire ride that is like that of a pneumatic tire.
Abstract:
A multi-part lightweight easily extruded or molded wheel rim and wheel particularly for cycling with joined flanges which extend radially inwardly toward the center of the rim and wheel provides strength not found in conventional channel shaped rims. The radially extending flanges are provided with apertures for receiving bent ends of spokes for assembling the rim and a hub to form a wheel which receives an inflatable tubeless or tube tire which need not be dismounted from the rim when repairing or replacing spokes.
Abstract:

The hub axle has a center axis extending between a first end and a second end. The hub body has a tubular center portion defining an interior passageway and a first mounting portion coupled to a first end of the center portion. The center portion defines an interior passageway with the hub axle being rotatably supported in the interior passageway. The first mounting portion has a plurality of first spoke openings extending axially to a first free edge and a plurality of first protrusions extending radially inwardly from the first mounting portion. The plurality of first protrusions are fixedly coupled to the first mounting portion. The bicycle hub also includes a second mounting portion coupled to a second end of the central portion. The second mounting portion has a plurality of second spoke openings. The second mounting portion can be different than the first mounting portion.
