    摘要: The present invention proposes a method for feeding a burden to a blast furnace (32), wherein the method comprises providing a charging device (38) having at least one material hopper (40), the material hopper (40) comprising a hopper chamber (42), a material inlet aperture for feeding a burden into the hopper chamber (40), and a material discharge aperture for feeding a burden from the hopper chamber (40) to the blast furnace (32); the material inlet aperture having an associated inlet seal valve 44) for opening and closing the material inlet aperture and the material discharge aperture having an associated material discharge valve (46) for opening and closing the material discharge aperture. The method further comprises opening the material inlet aperture and closing the material discharge aperture; feeding a burden into the hopper chamber (40) through the material inlet aperture; closing the inlet seal valve (44); pressurizing the hopper chamber (40) by feeding pressurizing gas into the hopper chamber (40); and opening the material discharge valve (46) and feeding the burden from the hopper chamber (40) to the blast furnace (32). According to an important aspect of the invention, the method further comprises subjecting at least a portion of a top gas recovered from the blast furnace (32) to a recycling process wherein carbon dioxide is removed from the recovered top gas; and feeding at least a portion of the recovered carbon dioxide as pressurizing gas into the hopper chamber (40) for pressurizing the hopper chamber (40).

    摘要: A method for producing a vapor stream from waste plastic comprises providing a waste plastic feedstock into a reactor containing one or more residues produced from a previously heated source of waste plastic, and heating the waste plastic feedstock in the reactor to a temperature from about 125° C. to 500° C. to generate a vapor containing one or more hydrocarbons. The waste plastic feedstock can have a calcium to sodium mass ratio from about 0.0001 to 400 as measured by inductively-coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometry. The catalytic activity in the reactor may be provided through one or more constituent elements in the waste plastic feedstock or the one or more residues produced from the previously heated source of waste plastic.

In one example, embodiment, a method is provided for recovering at least one organic decomposition product from a polypropylene-containing product, the method comprising: placing the polypropylene-containing product in a reduction zone of a material recovery system; flowing an inert gas through the reduction zone from a reduction inlet to a reduction outlet to purge the reduction zone and maintain a positive pressure therein; applying electromagnetic wave energy from an electromagnetic wave generator to the reduction zone via a bifurcated waveguide assembly, while maintaining the polypropylene-containing product in a stationary position for at least a portion of the applying, to yield at least one gaseous organic decomposition product; and exhausting the at least one gaseous organic decomposition product from the reduction zone along with the inert gas through the reduction outlet.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for the recycling of plastics materials, in particular waste plastics materials, into chemical feed stocks and hydrocarbon fractions. The present invention also relates to novel zeolite based catalysts used in such methods. The present invention also relates to methods of manufacturing such zeolite based catalysts. Plastics waste is traditionally disposed of by land-fill, incineration or recycling by re-processing the waste into raw material for reuse. Each of these disposal methods has its disadvantages. The drawbacks of land-fill are self apparent. Although incineration may include energy recovery, there still remains the obvious problem of CO2 emission and the emission of other toxic pollutants. Additionally, recycling the plastics requires sorting of the plastics waste because certain types of plastics materials are not recyclable, and mixtures of plastics can be problematic. The present invention provides an improved method for the recycling of waste plastics including mixed waste streams.
