摘要: A method may include: providing bio waste stream wherein the bio waste stream comprises at least one bio waste selected from the group consisting of palm oil mill effluent, soapstock, and combinations thereof; introducing the bio waste effluent stream into a fluidized catalytic cracking unit; contacting the bio waste with a catalyst in the fluidized catalytic cracking unit; and cracking at least a portion of the bio waste stream to form cracked products that comprise a cracked product stream.

摘要: Methods of producing a biodiesel derived from cocoa butter and in which the biodiesel possesses a cloud point as low as −61° F. generally include a two-step cold stabilization process in which at least two separate processes primarily aimed at reducing the cloud point of the resultant biodiesel are carried out. In some embodiments, one of the two cold stabilization steps involves desaturating the cocoa butter prior to transesterifying the cocoa butter for form biodiesel. Desaturating cocoa butter may include using a desaturase to convert saturated fatty acids present in the cocoa butter to unsaturated fatty acids. The second step of the two-step cold stabilization may employ urea clathration, which results in the formation of a lattice-like structure of urea having saturated fatty acid methyl esters trapped therein and which can easily be removed from the biodiesel. As a result of the two-step cold stabilization process, the amount of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in the biodiesel is reduced and the cloud point of the biodiesel is correspondingly lowered.

摘要: An improved alkaline pretreatment of biomass is provided that is a single-stage, two oxidant alkaline oxidative pretreatment process. The process uses a homogenous catalyst with at least two oxidants (Hydrogen peroxide and enhanced levels of oxygen) in an alkaline environment to catalytically pretreat lignocellulosic biomass in a single-stage oxidation reaction. The provided single-stage alkaline-oxidative pretreatment improves biomass pretreatment and increase enzymatic digestibility to improve the economic feasibility of production of lignocellulose derived sugars.

摘要: Systems and methods to reduce pour point (PP) temperatures of fat-based compositions for use in transportation fuels. In one or more embodiments, methods and systems reduce the pour point of rendered fats using biologically-derived plant oils for effectively transporting the blended fat based compositions over long distances, thereby advantageously decreasing the heating and mixing requirements needed to maintain the compositional temperature above the pour point. In certain embodiments, the fat based composition comprises rendered animal fats, such as tallow in combination with distilled corn oil (DCO).

The methods disclosed provide at least the ability to swell oilseeds and disrupt the cell walls (hulls) without changing the functionality and quality of oil; the process integration of removing the impurities from oilseeds, oil extraction, protein hydrolysis, and green coal production to maximize the energy recovery in the form of crude oil, polypeptides, oligopeptides, amino acids, and/or green coal from oilseeds; and heat integration during processing stages including subcritical water pretreatment, oil extraction, subcritical water post-treatment, and subcritical water carbonization to minimize the process heat requirement.
