An inherently fail-safe automatic remote-control and engine protection device of electromechanical/hydraulic assembly is supplied by engine lube oil and controlled by circuitry, acting on an existing non-included throttle or governor, especially in diesel generator standby applications, so as to enhance utility, engine reliability and longevity, all without engine modification. This assembly is a linear actuator, of few parts and no levers, basically comprised of a pull solenoid and a spring-return hydraulic cylinder contained within a guide tube which is held stationary. The solenoid armature is indirectly attached to one end of a cable and the engine governor is linked to the other end. The hydraulic cylinder's rod is rigidly attached to an actuator tube which is a sliding sleeve to the guide tube. The actuator tube itself is coupled to the cable such as to allow independent operation of said cable by solenoid, cylinder, or both.

A controlling system is provided for use with a motor vehicle which includes auxiliary equipment usually being pneumatically powered and designed to be operated by a power take-off switch wherein throttle control by the accelerator pedal of the motor vehicle is blocked during operation of the power take-off equipment and wherein control of vehicle motor operating speed is controllable through a throttle control system accessible within the vehicle driving compartment or externally. The control system utilizes an actual value sensor to determine the relative position of a motor control part. The actual value sensor changes its sensitivity, using a high resolution only across a part of its total range of movement and a lower resolution across the remainder, allowing the same actual value sensor to be used for idle control and speed control.

An improved actuator assembly is disclosed. The actuator has a rotor assembly rotatably mounted in a stator frame formed of a synthetic resin material. The stator frame has a borehole therein that receives a rotor assembly, a pair of mounting recesses, and a pair of bobbins portions. Each bobbin portion includes a slot. Induction magnets are mounted in each mounting recess of the stator frame such that they face the rotor assembly. A coils is would about each bobbin portion of the stator frame. The coils and induction magnets are angularly spaced about the rotor assembly. A core having a plurality of poles and holding portions, is also provided. Each core pole extends through an associated one of the bobbin slots and faces the rotor magnet. The holding portions are arranged to hold the induction magnets in place.

A first fuel line connects the valve to the fuel pump and a second fuel line connects the valve to the fuel injectors. The invention pertains to apparatus for controlling the quantity of fuel delivery to an engine and engine timing. Several problems with prior apparatus include their high cost and inability to be easily programmed for control purposes, together with their use of complicated electrical controls to meet reliability standards. The inventive solution includes a control rod (16) having a plurality (25,84) of control surfaces of preset shape that determine the maximum quantity of fuel delivery to the engine and engine timing. A plurality (30-36, 40,70) of hydromechanical control circuits axially and rotatably move the control rod (16) in response to engine speed and load. A plurality (18,26,28 and 90-100, 100') of devices control the maximum quantity of fuel delivery and engine timing based on the axial and rotatable positions of the rod (16). The inventive apparatus is used principally to control exhaust emissions from an engine.
