Abstract:
A CT detector-module-for detecting X-rays comprising: a matrix of photosensors, each of which generates signals responsive to photons incident thereon; a scintillator mounted over the matrix that converts X-rays incident on the scintillator to photons to which the photosensors are sensitive; an anti-scatter collimator mounted over the scintillator; and electronic circuitry located in close proximity to the photosensors to which each of the photosensors is connected for processing the signals generated by the photosensors; wherein parts of the module are formed from an absorbing material having a high X-ray absorption coefficient and shield the circuitry from radiation.
Abstract:
A light source for examining sites in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems for leaks using a fluorescent dye is described. The light source can include a low voltage lamp or a low heat generating lamp.
Abstract:
A method of evaluating free-space optical propagation characteristics includes emitting a plurality of laser beams from a corresponding plurality of laser sources, receiving laser beams at different target points, and measuring the time-based spatial fluctuations between the laser beams thus received. The respective distances from the laser sources to each target point are used to normalize the time-based spatial fluctuations. The difference between the normalized spatial positions of the laser beams at the target points is derived and used to obtain the frequency spectrum of time-based fluctuations of the spatial positions.
Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is providing a method and a simple instrument that can be used on a routine basis to accurately and quickly measure the focus position, waist radius, divergence, quality, power and power density of a laser beam. The measurement is performed by scanning a thin film of a nonlinear optical material in the focal region along the propagation direction of the beam and registering the variation of the on-axis intensity of the laser beam by a photodetector.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting material accretion and peeling in a system such as a plasma process chamber, including multiple optical sensors which are provided in the chamber above a gas distribution plate or other surface inside the chamber. The optical sensors are connected to a central process controller that is capable of terminating operation of the chamber and may be equipped with an alarm. In the event that the optical sensors detect asymmetries in brightness or light reflection among various portions or regions of the gas distribution plate or other surface, which asymmetries may indicate the formation of a material coating on the plate or dislodging of contaminant particles from the plate, a signal is sent to the process controller, which may be adapted to terminate the plasma process, alert operating personnel, or both.

A luminance measuring device for a LCD includes a photometric unit having a contact type luminance meter, a light shielding cushion member surrounding a vicinity of a light receiving portion of the contact type luminance meter and a holding unit for fixing the contact type luminance meter to the LCD a converting unit for converting a first luminance measurement result by the contact type luminance meter into a second luminance measurement result corresponding to a telescopic luminance meter and a processing unit for conducting conversion processing using the converting unit to a luminance measurement result of the LCD by the photometric unit.
Abstract:
A gamma camera plate incorporates scintillation crystal which is sufficiently thick to effectively capture high energy radiation. The crystal is provided on its light output side with an array of light path-modifying partitions which extend partly through its thickness. These partitions define individual light collimating cells which reduce the light spreading which would otherwise prevent effective use of the plate for low energy radiation.
Abstract:
Many commercial radiant energy processing systems, such as luminaires and light detectors, require highly efficient diffusely reflective surfaces that can withstand high temperatures. As disclosed herein, a reflector for such a device is constructed of a substrate with a reflective coating, for example painted onto one or more surfaces of the substrate. The coating material comprises a zinc oxide pigment, preferably an uncalcined zinc oxide together with a small amount of a dispersing agent. The pigment and water are mixed together with an alkali metal silicate vehicle-binder (preferably a potassium silicate), for example, in a sheer mixer. The resulting material can be painted onto the desired surface, for example by spraying, spot-brushing or dipping.
Abstract:
Stage apparatus are disclosed that exhibit reduced deformation that otherwise arises during assembly, as well as reduced deformation that otherwise accompanies vacuum evacuation of a vacuum chamber in which the stage apparatus is mounted. The stage apparatus include spherical static-pressure bearings situated between a stage base and the wall of the vacuum chamber to which the stage apparatus is mounted. Torque or other deformation-inducing stress otherwise exerted on the stage base and/or vacuum chamber is ameliorated by respective rotations of the spherical static-pressure bearings. By ameliorating such stress, stage deformation otherwise arising during assembly and chamber deformation otherwise arising during vacuum evacuation are reduced.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a technology for obtaining a large area fiber plate suited for downsizing a radiation imaging apparatus and reducing its cost and excellent of workability in the manufacturing process. A multi-fiber is manufactured by bundling and drawing a plurality of fibers to take a polygonal shape in section so that the multi-fibers can be air-tightly stacked without any air gap, a multi-fiber aggregate is manufactured by bundling and drawing the multi-fibers to take other polygonal shape in section that enables air-tight stacking with no air gap so as to be analogous to or different from the one polygonal shape in section, and there is manufactured a fiber plate configured by air-tightly bonding the multi-fiber aggregates to each other with a bonding agent without the air gap in a state of keeping the one or other polygonal shape in section after being drawn.
