Abstract: A method is disclosed for driving an emergency reaction system within a moving motor vehicle carrying at least one vehicle occupant. The method includes monitoring health conditions of the vehicle occupant. The method also includes determining whether the health conditions are below a critical threshold and, if so, continuing to monitor the health conditions of the vehicle occupant. If the health conditions exceed the critical threshold, an emergency alert is issued without waiting for the motor vehicle to stop, and an autonomous safe stop maneuver is performed if the motor vehicle is moving autonomously or includes an autonomous driving system and is allowed to operate automatically.

Abstract: Method of assembling an optical device in which a circuit board is provided supporting an imager, and a support is provided for supporting the circuit board. A first adhesive layer is applied to a mating region of at least one of the circuit board and the support. The circuit board is fixed to the support using at least one fastener. The first adhesive layer is compressed between the mating regions once the circuit board is fastened. The first adhesive layer is then cured for forming a stabilised imager assembly. A lens is then fixed to the stabilised imager assembly using a second adhesive layer, where fixing includes positioning the lens on the support to align its focal plane with the imager and then curing the second adhesive layer.

Abstract: This document describes techniques, apparatuses, and systems for sensor fusion for object-avoidance detection, including stationary-object height estimation. A sensor fusion system may include a two-stage pipeline. In the first stage, time-series radar data passes through a detection model to produce radar range detections. In the second stage, based on the radar range detections and camera detections, an estimation model detects an over-drivable condition associated with stationary objects in a travel path of a vehicle. By projecting radar range detections onto pixels of an image, a histogram tracker can be used to discern pixel-based dimensions of stationary objects and track them across frames. With depth information, a highly accurate pixel-based width and height estimation can be made, which after applying over-drivability thresholds to these estimations, a vehicle can quickly and safely make over-drivability decisions about objects in a road.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and device for mapping a vehicle environment of a vehicle are disclosed. The method comprises determining an occupancy grid representing the vehicle environment, including occupancy probability information of a first set of object detections. The occupancy probability information is determined from first positioning information obtained from a first sensor system. Semantic information and second positioning information associated with the semantic information from one or more semantic information sources is obtained. The semantic information comprises object classification information of a second set of object detections and the second positioning system indicates one or more positions of the second set of object detections with respect to the vehicle. The object classification information of the second set of object detections is combined with the occupancy probability information of the occupancy grid to generate a classified occupancy grid.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a connector assembly. The connector assembly includes a connector housing adapted to engage with a corresponding counter-connector housing. A lever including a first lever arm and a second lever arm is pivotably and sealingly mounted to the connector housing. Each lever arm includes interlocking means for connecting the first lever arm to the second lever arm at a first location. The interlocking means of each of the first lever arm and the second lever arm are configured to define complementary symmetrical surfaces that interlock with one another when the lever arms are pivotably mounted to the connector housing. On mounting the lever arms to the connector housing, the lever is configured to move about the connector housing between an open state and a closed state to secure the counter-connector housing to the connector housing.

Abstract: A heatsink shield with thermal-contact dimples can improve thermal-energy distribution in a radar assembly. The radar assembly includes a printed circuit board (PCB), the heatsink shield, a radome, and a housing. The PCB can include integrated circuits and other components, along with a thermally-conductive material that covers at least a portion of the PCB surfaces. The heatsink shield includes multiple dimples that thermally contact the thermally-conductive material. The heatsink shield is configured to distribute thermal energy produced at least in part by the PCB components to the housing. In this way, the described techniques and systems permit the radar assembly to better distribute thermal energy away from the PCB components to the rest of the PCB and through the housing.
