Abstract:
Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communications, comprising determining to use a reduced paging cycle to page a user equipment (UE) of a first type that supports the reduced paging cycle, the reduced paging cycle having a shorter period relative to a paging cycle used with UEs of a second type which do not support the reduced paging cycle, and paging the UE of the first type in accordance with the reduced paging cycle. Certain aspects relate to methods and apparatus for conveying system information by a base station, comprising broadcasting a first system information common to each cell of a group of cells in an area and broadcasting a second system information that can vary between cells in the group of cells, wherein the second system information is broadcast more frequently than the first system information.
Abstract:
Aspects described herein relate to communicating using multicast in a wireless network. A connection with an access point can be established using a cellular radio access technology. An internet protocol request for multicast communications can be transmitted to the access point over the connection. Multicast data can be received from the access point over resources corresponding to over-the-air multicast communications based on the internet protocol request.
Abstract:
Multiple protocol tunnels (e.g., IPsec tunnels) are deployed to enable an access terminal that is connected to a network to access a local network associated with a femto access point. A first protocol tunnel is established between a security gateway and the femto access point. A second protocol tunnel is then established in either of two ways. In some implementations the second protocol tunnel is established between the access terminal and the security gateway. In other implementations the second protocol tunnel is established between the access terminal and the femto access point, whereby a portion of the tunnel is routed through the first tunnel.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for delivering content to end user via shared broadcast are provided. The apparatus may be a UE that determines to acquire a MBMS service. The UE tunes to a frequency provided by a first MNO to which the UE is not a subscriber in order to receive the MBMS service via a carrier shared by the first MNO and at least one other MNO. The UE receives the MBMS service on the frequency via the carrier shared by the first MNO and the at least one other MNO. The shared carrier may have a common SFN timing with respect to the first MNO and the at least one other MNO. The shared carrier may include a shared MBMS SDL carrier. The shared carrier may include a standalone shared carrier for receiving the MBMS service and control information associated with the MBMS service.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method may include determining a pattern of signal transmissions for transmitting instances of a signal in a time period of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band; determining whether the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band is unavailable to transmit at least one instance of the signal; and changing, in response to determining the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band is unavailable to transmit an instance of the signal, the pattern of signal transmissions for the time period. A second method may include identifying at least one reference signal pattern from a plurality of reference signal patterns based at least in part on whether a plurality of transmission time intervals are bundled; and signaling the identified at least one reference signal pattern to a device.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication enable user equipment operating in a current cell that provides a multimedia broadcast/multicast service to distinguish between neighboring cells that have different operational characteristics. The presence of a neighboring cell is identified while the user equipment is operating in a first cell and it is determined whether the neighboring cell provides services different from the services provided in the current cell, based on information maintained by the user equipment. The user equipment may move to the neighboring cell to obtain better or different service.
Abstract:
Embodiments methods implemented with a server or a processor of a mobile communication device (e.g., a multi-standby communication device) reduce the redundancy information needed to achieve adequate reception service on a first radio access technology (RAT) sharing an RF resource with a second RAT. The device processor may implement at least one tune-away management strategy that mitigates the amount of data for the first RAT that is lost during the tune-away event. Thus, by implementing the one or more tune-away management strategies, the device processor may ensure that less redundancy information overhead is needed to correct or replace lost or partially received data, improving latency, channel usage, and the first RAT's overall reception performance. In some embodiments, a server may implement one or more strategies for including redundancy information into data that is sent to a first RAT to mitigate the negative effects of tune aways on the first RAT.
Abstract:
A device may support communication without a radio link control (RLC) layer, which may include receiving a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) service data units (SDUs) for multiple radio bearers at a PDCP layer. The multiple radio bearers may have different reliability or delay targets, and a reordering procedure at the PDCP layer may be conducted on the different radio bearers. The reordering procedure may be a same reordering procedure for each of the radio bearers, with one or more parameters that may be adjusted based on one or both of the reliability target or delay target of the radio bearer.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for control and triggering of machine to machine (M2M) devices (e.g., smart meters). More specifically how to allow an M2M service provider (e.g., utility company) to use an operator's network to communicate with the M2M device connected with a UE/GW associated with the operator's network. The M2M service provider may receive identification of the UE/GW, but not for the M2M device. By transmitting an identifier for the M2M device along with an identifier for the UE/GW, the network operator may define establish and maintain a communication path specific to M2M devices. Similar techniques may be incorporated to allow the M2M service provider to locate and trigger the M2M device.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE monitors a first component carrier and at least one second component carrier of a plurality of aggregated component carriers for a service and configuration information associated with the service. The UE receives the service concurrently via the first component carrier and the at least one second component carrier. At least one of the first component carrier or the at least one second component carrier carries the service via broadcast.
