    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for coordinating access to a shared wireless medium among multiple master devices operating on the same frequency band. In some implementations, master devices may contend for access to the shared medium during a medium reservation window (MRW). During the MRW, master devices may advertise their intent to reserve at least a portion of the shared medium for one or more timeslots within a subsequent medium utilization period. The reservation messages may be broadcast to other master devices in the vicinity to prevent other master devices from accessing the wireless medium during a reserved timeslot. In some implementations, the owner of a timeslot may share at least a portion of its timeslot with other master devices. For example, the timeslot owner may enable other master devices to utilize an unused portion of the wireless medium, such as unused channels, spatial streams, or time.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for starting an extended idle interval in an effort to avoid collisions with transmissions from hidden wireless nodes. One example apparatus generally includes a receiver and a processing system. The receiver is typically configured to receive a multi-user (MU) transmission comprising at least one packet for the apparatus. The processing system is typically configured to determine a checksum of the at least one packet and to start an idle interval associated with the apparatus after receiving the MU transmission if the at least one packet comprises a frame check sequence (FCS) that corresponds to the checksum, wherein the idle interval includes at least enough time for transmission of an acknowledgment (ACK) frame. For certain aspects, the idle interval may comprise an extended interframe space (EIFS).

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that may communicate a control aggregate frame from a first wireless device to a second wireless device. A first wireless device may form a control aggregate frame by aggregating a plurality of first control frames into the control aggregate frame. The control aggregate frame may include a single media access control (MAC) header, a plurality of first aggregation fields, each storing a control frame subtype for a corresponding one of the plurality of first control frames, and a plurality of first payload fields, each storing a corresponding one of the plurality of first control frames. After generating the control aggregate frame, the first wireless device may transmit it to the second wireless device.

    Abstract: There lies a challenge to develop a technique of effectively establishing a direct communication link between client devices in a communication network. In some implementations, an associated STA is a client device which is associated with a particular access point (AP). A non-associated STA is a client device which is not associated with the AP. A tunneled probe request may be transmitted by an associated STA through the AP to be broadcast to other associated STAs. In some implementations, an active scan may be combined with a tunneled probe request in order to establish a communication link between an associated STA and a non-associated STA.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for using different MAC addresses in frames for the same station to indicate how to process the frames. In this manner, frames for IEEE 802.11ac can carry information not present in legacy frames (e.g., frames according to IEEE 802.11a/n), but these frames may be interpreted by legacy devices in a legacy way. One example method generally includes receiving a first frame comprising an indication of a first MAC address and processing the received first frame based on the first MAC address. For certain aspects, the method further includes receiving a second frame comprising an indication of a second MAC address, wherein the second MAC address is different than the first address; and processing the received second frame based on the second MAC address, such that the processing of the second frame is different than the processing of the first frame.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for wireless communication are provided. A method for wireless communication comprises receiving a first physical layer protocol data unit. The method further comprises receiving a second PPDU. The method further comprises updating a value of a response indication deferral counter to a value indicated by the second PPDU when the second PPDU is associated with a same basic service set as the first PPDU.
