An image processing apparatus implements appropriate image processing on image data stored in a storage unit of the image processing apparatus easily and efficiently, and distributes the image data to an external apparatus. An image format conversion unit implements image processing such as resolution conversion processing, filter processing, γ correction processing, and halftone processing on image data stored in an HDD serving as an image data storage unit so that the image data conform to conditions, such as image quality and format, specified by an external client apparatus. The image-processed image data are then distributed to the external client apparatus.

A relaying device may be configured to communicate with an image processing device and a server device via a network. The server device may be configured to store uploaded data. The relaying device may receive, from the image processing device, selected data format instruction information. The relaying device may execute a conversion processing when the upload data is data in a first format and the data format identified by the selected data format instruction information is a second format, or when the upload data is data in a third format and the data format identified by the selected data format instruction information is not the third format. The relaying device may receive the upload data and convert the received upload data into converted data in the data format identified by the selected data format instruction information. The relaying device may transmit the converted data to the server device.

The device also includes a memory in which at least one still image captured by the image capture device is stores; and a cellular transceiver coupled to an antenna; wherein the processor is configured to cause the display of at least one still image stored in the memory on the display; cause the display of a transmission selection menu on the display in response to operation of the selection mechanism; thereby enabling selection of a plurality of receiver units from the selection menu to receive the at least one displayed still image; and cause the transmission of the at least one display still image by the cellular transceiver for receipt by each selected receiver unit.

A system is disclosed for integrating electronic mail, voice mail, and fax mail in a universal mailbox. Message receivers may access their messages with a telephone or a computer regardless of the communication medium used by the message sender. Using a telephone, message receivers may playback voice mail, redirect fax mail, and “listen” to e-mail through a text-to-speech conversion process. Using a computer and modem, message receivers may playback voice mail, view fax mail, and read e-mail by accessing the universal mailbox via connection software. Message senders and receivers may choose from a variety of filter and forward options that allow them to manage their communications via the universal mailbox. Forwarding and conversion of messages is performed automatically. The options are used to define a set of rules to be applied to inbound and outbound messages so that messages are sent and received in accordance with the preferences of the senders and receivers.

When an electronic document is to be generated from an image of a document, reproduction of both an appearance of the document image and a logical structure is difficult because of format limitations imposed on the electronic document. According to the present invention, from among column arrangements allowed by the specifications of the electronic document, a column arrangement is selected by using which the positions of character areas in an input image and the logical structure analyzed from the input image can be most appropriately reproduced, and is used to generate an electronic document.

This invention provides a first communication apparatus, which makes a facsimile communication via a packet communication network and can describe different contents image header information each including a date, time, source information, destination information, and the like in image data having a predetermined number of pixels upon sending the image data to a plurality of destinations, and a communication method. This invention also provides a second communication apparatus which makes a facsimile communication via a packet communication network and has a first mode in which image header information such as a date, time, source information, destination information, and the like can be described in image data having a predetermined number of pixels and can send the image data, and a second mode in which image data having one of various resolutions and an indefinite number of pixels can be sent.

In one implementation, a method for implementing gain control enhancement for modulated communications includes establishing a communication session between a first endpoint and a second endpoint. The communication session involves forwarding a call signal using an initial gain level until a state transition is detected in the communication session at a digital signal processor. The detection may occur in a transmitting gateway associated with the first endpoint or a receiving gateway associated with the second endpoint. The state transition indicates modulated communications, which may include fax, modem, or text telephony. For example, communication session may be fax over IP (FoIP). The call signal is forwarded using an adjusted gain level based on the state transition. The adjusted gain level may be selected to avoid clipping in the call signal.

The controller renders the data into a format readable by an electronic book device having a processor.A document print management system includes the multifunction device, and a port configured to transfer the data to an electronic book device when an electronic book device is in operative communication with the controller via the port. The system also includes an electronic book device in operative communication with the controller via the port. In a method for rendering a document to an electronic book device, the method includes causing a document management device to process data received from a processor capable of executing a printing utility and rendering image data into a format readable by the electronic book device.

With a digital camera 100, a photographed image 31 is displayed on a liquid crystal display and the user selects a desired image and specifies print specifications of the number of print sheets, a print paper size, a print color mode, etc., then print image data is prepared. The prepared print image data is transmitted from the digital camera 100 to a color printer of an output unit. An image is printed at the color printer in accordance with the print image data.
