    摘要: An internal combustion engine having a camshaft which is translatable between first and second positions to control an engine operating characteristic. The camshaft is rotationally driven from the engine crankshaft, and includes an oil pump member in fluid communication with the oil sump of the engine. During rotation of the camshaft, the oil pump member pumps oil from the oil sump to various lubrication points in the engine, and also generates an oil pressure which acts upon at least a portion of the camshaft. At low engine speeds, the oil pressure is insufficient to translate the camshaft. However, at high engine speeds, the oil pressure is sufficient to translate the camshaft axially during running of the engine, and the camshaft returns to its initial position when the speed of the engine decreases. Translation of the camshaft may facilitate an automatic compression and/or vacuum release feature, a low and high speed cam switching feature, or a low oil shutdown feature, for example.

    摘要: The invention relates to the adaptation of a Mazda RENESIS rotary engine to use as a marine vessel propulsion system. It is an object of present invention to enhance the power and torque bands of the rotary engine and shift them to the midrange of engine speeds that are most applicable in direct drive systems. Peak torque of 300 ft-lbs. at 3750 rpm and Peak power of 325 hp at 5800 rpm have been realized. The invention comprises various engineering developments to increase performance. These developments include modifications to standard engine components such as intake and exhaust manifolds as well as addition of customized performance tuned components including a turbocharger, an aftercooler, an oil cooler, and an engine control management system. Improvements to engine mounting and power transmission mechanisms are also described.

    摘要: The Quasiturbine (Qurbine in short) uses a rotor arrangement peripherally supported by four rolling carriages, the carriages taking the pivoting blade pressure-load of the blades forming the rotor, and transferring the load to the opposite internal contoured housing wall. The present invention discloses a central, annular, rotor support for the rotor geometry defined by the pivoting blades and associated wheel-bearings, while still maintaining the important center-free engine characteristic. The pressure-load on each pivoting blade is taken by its own set of wheel-bearings rolling on annular tracks attached to the central area of the lateral side covers forming part of the stator casing. This central, annular, rotor support could generally apply to all the family of Quasiturbine rotor arrangements and particularly to the limit case here considered, where the previous carriage design is replaced by a cylindrical pivoting blade joint as presented in the present patent, and for which an efficient solution of the five bodies rotary engine sealing problem is given.

In order to minimize the number of rotating components, a second eccentric ring is mounted by a bearing around the power shaft inside the aforementioned non-rotary inner casing, this second ring being coaxial with and fixed to the driving eccentric ring, and the eccentric ring arrangement being a substantially non-rotary unit that only performs an eccentric motion, which makes the power shaft rotate.
