    Abstract: A well treatment fluid includes an aqueous-based fluid, a crosslinked CMHEC polymer, and a crosslinker. The CMHEC polymer exhibits a DS of 0.2 to 0.6 and a MS of 2.0 to 2.5. The well treatment fluid exhibits a viscosity of at least about 100 cP. A well treatment method includes crosslinking a CMHEC polymer in an aqueous-based fluid at a pH of at least about 6. The crosslinking increases a viscosity of the well treatment fluid to at least about 100 cP. A well is treated with the well treatment fluid at a temperature of at least about 200° F. Another well treatment method includes forming a well treatment fluid from produced water that has a TDS content of at least about 150,000 ppm. The crosslinking increases a viscosity of the well treatment fluid to at least about 100 cP.

    Abstract: A local position indicating device for a subsea isolation valve that has no other visual signals of its position integrates to the hydraulic actuation system for the isolation valve. Three way valves, connected to an operating control line and a force closed balance line leading to opposed ends of an operating piston, are located by the isolation valve and redirected by a diver or ROV, to locally operate the valve. The balance line has a piston that is displaced with fluid pushed by the operating piston when the isolation valve is opened with hydraulic pressure in the operating control line local connection. The piston connected to the balance line moves an indicator out of its housing for the local indication that the isolation valve is open. Displaced fluid from movement of the piston in the position indicator moves a floating piston to keep seawater away from the indicating piston.

    Abstract: A frac plug for use in a plug and perf arrangement to within a wellbore. The frac plug includes a central mandrel and locking portion which can be set within the wellbore. A bypass port is disposed through the central mandrel and is unblocked to fluid flow during setting of the plug assembly. Thereafter, the central mandrel is axially shifted within the set locking portion to block fluid communication across the frac plug.

    Abstract: A method of estimating one or both of compaction or subsidence of a subterranean formation with gravity measurements. The free air gradient at surface is measured and compared with gravity measured in a borehole that intersects the formation. At a later point in time, values for gravity are re-measured, differences between the measured values at the initial point in time, and the later point in time are estimated. The differences are used to estimate the compaction or subsidence. A gravimeter can be used for measuring gravity, markers in the formation can be used in conjunction with the gravimeter.
