    摘要: The present invention provides a Shield-Junction thin film transistor structure. According to the structure of the present invention, on top of the passivation layer, there is an island of protection electrode electrically insulated from the bottom ITO electrode. The protection electrode electrically connects with the gate line through a via hole and covers part of the drain electrode and its adjacent part of the TFT channel. Since the protection electrode does not cover or overlap with the source electrode, it has a negligible contribution to the data-line capacitance.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display panel is disclosed, in which each sub-pixel electrode has an opening in the center and a patterned conductive layer as a bias electrode is positioned relatively around the sub-pixel electrode. Upon being applied with a voltage, the liquid crystal molecules above the sub-pixel around the opening will tilt down outwardly and radially. Upon being applied with a bias voltage, the liquid crystal molecules above the bias electrode will be arranged parallel to the substrate due to the effect from the electric field. The liquid crystal layer may further comprise a chiral dopant, such that the molecules twist when they tilt.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display panel includes an active matrix substrate having a plurality of thin film transistors. The active matrix substrate comprises a plurality of parallel scanning lines and a plurality of parallel data lines, which cross mutually and form a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels includes the first thin film transistor, the second thin film transistor, a control electrode (CE) and a pixel electrode. The first electrode of the first thin film transistor is connected to the data line; the second electrode of it is connected to the pixel electrode; the gate electrode of it is connected to the scanning line. The first electrode of the second thin film transistor is connected to another adjacent data line; the second electrode of it is connected to the control electrode, and the gate of it is connected to another adjacent scanning line. The scanning signals driving the pixel allows the control electrode and the pixel electrode to be written into their potentials during two horizontal scanning periods or during a vertical scanning period respectively.

In general, spacers must be formed to isolate a gate from a subsequently-formed drain, thereby reducing a leakage current. In the invention, the spacers are formed on the vertical sides of the gate by using a selective deposition process. Therefore, the method for manufacturing a transistor having a low leakage current according to the invention not only constitutes a simplified process, but also controls the widths of the spacers precisely, so that the leakage current of the transistor can be greatly decreased.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a liquid crystal display containing a plurality of liquid crystals, a switching element, a plurality of alignment layers and a plurality of electrodes. The switching element comprises a gate, a drain and a source, and the drain/source forms a directional top portion. The gate and the source/drain form a lateral electric field. The alignment layer is disposed on the switching element and corresponds with the directional top portion. The plurality of liquid crystals are operated by the lateral electric field and located above the electrodes and the alignment layers. The alignment direction of plurality liquid crystals is following the directional top portion due to the enhancement of liquid crystal phase transition. Enhancement of the lateral electric field between the plurality of electrodes is helpful to reduce liquid crystal phase transition time.

    摘要: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display with a plurality of pixel units. Each pixel unit includes two sub-pixels. Each sub-pixel includes a thin film transistor, a liquid crystal capacitor and a storage capacitor. One of the storage capacitors is a changeable capacitor. By the changeable capacitor, two different data voltages are generated in respective sub-pixels during adjacent frames. The different data voltages are symmetrical with respect to a common voltage to improve image quality.
