Abstract:
A hinge is mounted in an appliance with a cover and a base and has a stationary bracket, multiple resilient spacers and a pintle. The stationary bracket is attached to the base of the appliance and has a tubular sleeve. The resilient spacers are mounted securely in the sleeve. The pintle is attached to the cover of the appliance and is mounted rotatably in the resilient spacers. With multiple resilient spacers, the area to provide friction between the resilient spacers and the pintle is increased. Therefore, the friction between the resilient spacers and the pintle is increased and is sufficient to easily hold the cover at any desired angle.
Abstract:
A drive for pivoting a flap arranged on a vehicle body about a pivot axis includes a non-self locking electric motor and a drive train connecting the motor to the flap. The motor can be switched between a driving active state and a non-driving inactive state, the motor being moveable in the inactive state at least substantially without any resistance. A braking device blocks the drive train in the inactive state of the drive motor and unblocks the drive train in the active state of the motor.
Abstract:
A drive for pivoting a flap on a body of a vehicle about a pivot axis, with a drive motor, by means of which an output driving the flap pivotably can be driven rotatably via a drive train having an epicyclic gear. The epicyclic gear has a sun gear, an internally toothed rim, a planet gear which is in engagement with the sun gear and the internally toothed rim, and a planet carrier which carries the planet gear and which is connected fixedly in terms of rotation to a shaft coaxial with respect to the axis of rotation of the planet carrier. The rotational movement of a component of the epicyclic gear can be braked by a brake. In particular, the brake can stop the rotational movement of the internally toothed rim, the sun gear can be driven rotatably by the drive motor, and the shaft of the planet carrier can form the output.
Abstract:
An anti-pinch system of a vehicle closure includes a detection system for detecting pinching and a clutch to disconnect the vehicle closure from a closure driving mechanism following detection of pinching by the detection system. The closure drive mechanism can be disengaged to prevent an increase in pinching during the time required to reverse the movement of the closure driving mechanism.
Abstract:
A brake assembly for locking a vertical or horizontal slidable sash window or door within a track of a frame is disclosed. The track has an elongated base and a pair of spaced apart, opposed sidewalls extending perpendicular from the base. Each sidewall has an inner shoulder spaced from and parallel to the base. The assembly has a slider body having a central opening extending from a front face of the body to a rear face of the body. The slider body has a side opening in each side of the slider body and being in communication with the central opening. A pair of brake members are provided wherein one brake member is slidably positioned within a respective one of the side openings. A cam has a rear face and a front face, and is adapted to receive a pivot member mounted on either the sash window or door. The cam is positioned in the central opening and is adapted to be rotatable within the opening by the pivot member. The cam, slider body and brake members include cooperative structure for converting rotary motion of the cam into radial movement of the brake members through the side openings and axial movement of the cam and slider body to lock the brake assembly within the track.
Abstract:
An automatic door opener (10) for opening or closing a door (28) includes a motor (14) driving a drive shaft (50) and an opener arm (18) connected to the door (28) and being responsive to rotation of the drive shaft (50) for moving the door (28) to an open or closed position. A clutch (46) operable to disengage the drive shaft (50) from the opener arm (18) is provided in the event of the door (28) engaging an obstacle, electric power being unavailable, or the door being fully open or fully closed. The door opener (10) may also include a brake (48) for selectively preventing movement of the door (28). Various embodiments of the invention are provided, including an electromagnetic clutch (80) and an electromagnetic brake (114).
Abstract:
A power operating system for opening and closing a vehicle liftgate has a pair of drive units supported on the vehicle roof and connected to the liftgate for opening and closing the liftgate. Each drive unit includes a bracket that is secured to the vehicle body for supporting several parts including a reversible electric motor, a gear unit and a track. The electric motor drives a segmented sector inside the track via a gear reduction unit. The segmented sector includes an arcuate link that slides in an arcuate track portion of the track and a plurality of short sector links that are stored in a storage track portion when the liftgate is closed. The arcuate link has an outboard end that is pivotally connected to the liftgate to open and close the liftgate as the arcuate link is extended and retracted by the segmented rack.
Abstract:
A mechanism for the powered opening and closing of household panels such as windows and doors comprises a worm drive screw, small enough to be mounted within and along the upper track of a sliding panel. A nut threaded on the drive screw moves axially along the screw when the screw is rotated. Motion of the nut is transmitted to the panel by means of a coupling bolt, slidingly mounted within a cavity in the top of the panel. The bolt slides up to engage the nut for powered operation, and slides down to disengage from the nut during manual operation. The position of the bolt can be secured through locking means. A resilient, dielectric transmission accouplement between the drive screw and the motor provides electrical and vibrational isolation, and scalability. A second extendible bolt mounted on an opposite end of the frame hinders pitch deflection of the panel during powered operation. Worm gearing and a solenoid based brake locks the motor and the position of the nut when no power is applied.
Abstract:
A brake mechanism for slowing elevator car doors in an elevator system during an emergency power outage or electrical control malfunction includes a brake shoe activated by a solenoid. During normal operation of the elevator car doors, the solenoid is in activated mode and maintains the brake shoe spaced away from the door pulley. During a power outage or electrical controls malfunction, the solenoid is deactivated and, in cooperation with a compression spring, forces the shoe brake to engage the door pulley to slow down the movement of elevator car doors.
Abstract:
A garage door operator is disclosed to have a front coupling for a threaded screw of the operator and the rotor of the motor. The coupling includes a first coupling device that is a unitary coupling member with opposing recesses for receiving each of the rotor shaft and an end portion of the screw. The unitary coupling member thereby connects the screw to the motor for torque transmission from the motor. The second coupling device includes a thrust containment device that is supported on the screw, and an intermediate assembly disposed between the thrust containment device and an end portion of the guide rail of the door operator. A retainer component of the intermediate assembly restricts expansion of the thrust containment device.
