    摘要： A muffler having an inner shell of two deep-drawn inner sheet metal plates laid one atop the other and a housing shell of at least two deep-drawn outer sheet metal plates laid one atop the other. The inner shell has an encircling edge while the housing shell has an encircling housing flange with a lock seam connection which seals the housing shell. The edge of the inner shell is designed so that it barely touches the wall of the housing shell and is held in a spring-like fashion only between clamping creases of the housing shell.

The conduit is disposed within the housing and is securely joined to the housing at its two ends. Filler material within the housing surrounds the exhaust conduit, the exhaust conduit being in contact only with the filler material between the two ends of the exhaust conduit. The housing has a length and a width and a depth, its length and width being greater than its depth, and at least one plate extends in the direction of the depth of the housing, between the half shells, and is securely joined to the half shells without touching the exhaust conduit. For this purpose, the plate has notches in which leg portions of the exhaust conduit are disposed in spaced relation to the plate. The half shells of the housing are joined to each other by a folded seam and are joined to the ends of the exhaust conduit by welded joints, and are also joined to the plate by welded joints.

    摘要： A device for conducting away exhaust gases from internal combustion engines comprises at least one sleeve-shaped silencer which encloses an exhaust pipe and forms an enclosed space around said exhaust pipe. The silencer is made up of at least two sleeve-shaped parts, or of a sleeve-shaped part and base part, which are joined together. The portion of the exhaust pipe in the space inside the silencer features perforations and/or sound absorbing elements. The inside of the silencer may be fitted with sound absorbers. The sleeve-shaped parts of the silencer and if desired, the exhaust pipe and/or the sound absorbers are made of aluminum and/or an aluminum alloy. The sleeve-shaped parts of the silencer are manufactured by impact extrusion, deep drawing or a similar method and all joined together preferably radial to their longitudinal axis. The ends these parts taper down to tube-shaped extensions which fit over the exhaust pipe. To join the sleeve-shaped parts and the tube-shaped extensions to the exhaust pipe a region is provided on which an interlocking profile is created by electromagnetic forces.

    摘要： A tube-to-plate connection includes a plate defining an aperture where the tube is to be attached to the plate. The portion of the plate surrounding the aperture includes a plurality of fingers extending away from the plane of the plate and projecting radially inwardly toward the axis of the aperture. The end of the tube lies generally against the radially inward projections of the fingers to prevent movement of the tube longitudinally further through the plate. The tube side wall includes a radially deformed portion adjacent each finger to prevent rotation of the tube in the plate. The fingers and the tube end include portions adjacent the radially inward projections of the fingers which are flared radially outward to prevent movement of the tube longitudinally out of engagement with the plate.
