Abstract: A vehicle includes a battery connecting module and a processor. The battery connecting module is configured to couple to at least one rechargeable battery. The processor is configured to: determine whether the battery module is coupled to a charging device; in response to the battery module being coupled to the charging device, transmit a permission request to a server; and in response to receiving a charging permission corresponding to the permission request from the server, allow the at least one rechargeable battery to be charged by the charging device.

Abstract: A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors or ultracapacitors). Relevant information regarding vehicles that use the collection and distribution machines is communicated to or acquired by mobile devices of users associated with one or more of the vehicles. The vehicle information may include information regarding diagnostics or status of the vehicle and information regarding usage history of the vehicle received from different sources. This information is then processed and analyzed at the mobile device and such information is presented by the mobile device in a useful manner to the user and/or communicated to another device external to the mobile device, such as the vehicle, for further processing or communication of the data.

The rotor assembly includes first/second housing components and multiple magnets mounted on one or both of the first and second housing components. The stator assembly includes (1) a coil assembly positioned corresponding to the magnets; (2) a main circuit board fixedly coupled to the coil assembly; and (3) a battery assembly positioned inside the coil assembly and carried by the main circuit board.

Abstract: A collection, charging and distribution machine collects, charges and distributes portable electrical energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, super- or ultracapacitors). To charge, the machine employs electrical current from an external source, such as the electrical grid or an electrical service of an installation location. The machine determines a first number of devices to be rapidly charged, employing charge from a second number of devices identified to sacrifice charge. Thus, some devices may be concurrently charged via current from the electrical service and current from other devices, to achieve rapid charging of some subset of devices. The devices that sacrifice charge may later be charged. Such may ensure availability of devices for end users. Collection, charging and distribution machines may be deployed individually or as networked collection, charging and distribution modules with one collection, charging and distribution module controlling at least one other collection, charging and distribution module.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a hub apparatus and associated charging systems. In some embodiments, the hub apparatus includes (1) a housing assembly defining an internal space; (2) a shaft positioned to extend through the housing assembly; (3) a stator assembly fixedly coupled to the shaft; (4) a side cover fixedly coupled to the shaft and rotatably coupled to the housing assembly, the side cover having a base portion and a mating portion extending from the base portion; and (5) a pair of first connectors positioned through the mating portion. Each of the first connectors comprising a terminal end and a contact portion. The terminal end is electrically coupled to a battery assembly via a wire bundle fixedly coupled to the side cover. The contact portion is configured to electrically couple to an external power source so as to charge the battery assembly through a wired connection.
