Abstract:
A method for efficiently transmitting control information may include allocating a portion of orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) frames for transmission of a code division multiple access (CDMA) based signal. The CDMA-based signal may include data from one or more dedicated control channels. The method may also include converting the CDMA-based signal into a format that is suitable for transmission via OFDMA techniques. The method may also include transmitting the converted CDMA-based signal using a subset of available OFDMA subcarriers.
Abstract:
A method for measuring round-trip delay at a mobile station may include determining a first time difference between two different types of frames at a base station. The method may also include determining a second time difference between the two different types of frames at a mobile station. The method may also include calculating the round-trip delay based on the first time difference and the second time difference.
Abstract:
A method for uplink frame synchronization in a subscriber station may include recording a first time stamp corresponding to a first downlink frame and recording a second time stamp corresponding to a second downlink frame. The first time stamp and the second time stamp may be used to determine a propagation delay change. Uplink transmission timing may be adjusted based on the propagation delay change that is determined.
Abstract:
A slingshot body for use with an elastic member in slinging a projectile. A fork portion to which the elastic member is to be attached and a gripping portion to be grasped by a user of the slingshot body are provided. Mounting apparatus pivotally connects the fork portion and the gripping portion to one another to allow movement of the gripping portion within the user's hand. The mounting apparatus including a connecting portion for connecting the fork portion and the gripping portion to one another by a predetermined distance sufficient to overcome friction forces created when drawing the elastic member to a shooting position.
Abstract:
A method of conducting an interactive design conference over the Internet, comprises: selectively admitting clients communicating through web browsers over the Internet to an interactive design conference; receiving a graphics file indicative of a design from one of the clients; and transmitting the graphics file to the other clients so as to be viewable as a graphics image through graphics file readers in the client web browsers. The graphics file is generated by a snapshot program previously transmitted to a client initiating the design conference and controlling the design database. Java applets are transmitted to each of the design conference participants to facilitate communicating annotations of the graphics image and messages between clients through their web browsers.
Abstract:
A method of designing a network results in a network with an efficient addressing scheme which allows for filters to perform a simple logical operation. The process begins by arranging a plurality of nodes connected by a plurality of bi-directional links in a tree topology. Each node is assigned a range of consecutive flow process addresses such that each packet carried in a first direction on one of the bi-directional links has an address within the range A
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for distributing and consolidating data packets onto multiple network interfaces includes using frame-based inverse multiplexing to parse high-speed data into frames for placement onto lower-speed E1 or T1 connections between a base station controller and a base station, or between two base station controllers, in a cellular telephony network. The inverse multiplexing algorithm may be implemented with hardware such as, e.g., FIFOs and registers. The frames are transmitted across the E1 or T1 connections and then received, buffered, and multiplexed into a single high-speed data stream.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for using a location of a mobile station (MS) and information about neighbor base stations (BSs) to assist network entry and initialization, scanning, and/or handover operations are provided. The location of the MS may be ascertained by determining the Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates of the MS internally or by receiving the location from, e.g., a GPS device external to the MS. The information about neighbor BSs may be retrieved from a BS information database based on the location of the MS. The BS information database may reside within the MS, be broadcast periodically to the MS in an effort to update the MS's internal database, or be stored in the network operator's database. Knowledge of the MS's location and information about neighbor BSs may reduce the time spent during network entry, scanning, or handover, and thereby, power consumption; and may increase the bandwidth usage efficiency.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which the method of wireless communication includes identifying a reference cell; selecting a plurality of candidate cells based on a criteria; determining a characteristic for the reference cell and the plurality of candidate cells; and setting a position based on the determined characteristic.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, a user equipment (UE) may be capable of communication on multiple radio access networks. A UE may be in simultaneous communication with one radio access network, such as TD-SCDMA for circuit-switched voice calls and with another radio access network, such as TDD-LTE for packet-switched data communications. When the TDD-LTE network is idle, the UE may evaluate signal strength of the respective network for potential cell reselection. The UE may measure only a serving TD-SCDMA cell for purposes of switching packet-switched service to the TD-SCDMA network, thereby avoiding a situation where the UE attempts to connect to a different TD-SCDMA cell for purposes of packet-switched communications than the cell presently affiliated with the UE for circuit-switched communications.
