A method includes receiving, from a base station, information on resources for SI request including information on a start index of at least one random access preamble for the SI request; receiving, from the base station, at least one synchronization signal block (SSB); selecting an SSB among the at least one SSB; determining a preamble for the SI request corresponding to the selected SSB based on the information on the start index; and transmitting, to the base station, the determined preamble based on a physical random access channel (PRACH) occasion corresponding to the selected SSB.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a method and system for performing a bearer type change of a plurality of radio bearers configured for a User Equipment (UE). The proposed method includes changing the bearer type of specific bearer by the network. Further, the proposed method includes checking any changes in keys or PDCP termination point or PDCP version change. Furthermore, the proposed method includes notifying the UE to change the bearer type either through reconfiguration procedure without handover or SN change procedure or reconfiguration procedure with handover or SN change procedure. The network indicates one or more operations to the UE for performing the bearer type change.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method that decodes a broadcast channel to obtain first system information periodically broadcasted from a base station; applies at least one cell selection parameter indicated in the first system information to camp on a cell served by the base station and storing the first system information; accesses the camped cell based on at least one random access parameter indicated in the first system information; and determines whether at least one of a system information block of second system information available in the camped cell is provided based on at least one of the periodic broadcast and an on-demand basis. The on-demand basis to deliver the corresponding system information block of the second system information available in the camped cell is decided based on at least one of an indication and a flag included in the first system information for the system information block.
