Abstract:
Some novel diazo compounds, and salts thereof, useful for dyeing keratinous fibers, particularly human hair are disclosed. Illustrative of these compounds are the methyl sulfate salts of 1'-(4'-N,N-dimethylaminobenzene) 2-azo 4-cyano 1-methyl pyridinium methyl sulfate and 1'-(4'-amino 8'-hydroxy naphthalene) 2-azo 1-methyl pyridinium. Hair setting lotions, hair dye compositions and hair lacquers containing these compounds, preferably in alcoholic solutions, are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Compositions for dyeing human hair contain in an aqueous or hydroalcoholic solution an azo derivative of pyridine N-oxide as a hair dye present in amounts of 0.001 - 1 weight percent of said composition which has a pH ranging from 3 - 9.5.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a ready-to-use composition for oxidation dyeing of keratinous fibres, and in particular human keratinous fibres such as hair comprising, in a medium suitable for dyeing, 3-methyl 4-amino phenol as oxidation base, and at least an enzyme such as laccase, as well as the dyeing method using said composition.
Abstract:
A photostable cosmetic filter composition for protecting human skin against UV radiation at wavelengths between 280 and 380 nm comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable support medium containing at least one oily phase, 1 to 3% by weight of a dibenzoylmethane derivative and at least 1% by weight of a substituted dialkylbenzalmalonate having formula I: ##STR1## R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 may be identical or different and represent H or a straight- or branched-chain C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxy radical. R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 represent a straight- or branched-chain C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl radical. The molar ratio of compound (I) to the dibenzoylmethane derivative is greater than or equal to 0.6.

Abstract:
Process for the preparation of 5,6-dihydroxyindole, wherein the compound of formula: ##STR1## in which R' denotes a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted benzyl radical, is subjected either to the action of hydrogen under pressure or to a hydrogen transfer operation, in a solvent medium and in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
Abstract:

The invention concerns 4-hydroxy-5-methoxyindole and 5-ethoxy-4-hydroxy-2-methylindole which are useful as dyes for dyeing keratin materials.
Abstract:
Processes for preparing 5,8,11-eicosatriynoic acid as well as esters and amides thereof involves initially preparing the acid by reacting 1-decyne with 1,4-dihalo-2-butyne in the presence of a strong base to form 1-halo-2,5-tetradecadiyne which is then reacted with 5-hexynoic acid so as to form 5,8,11-eicosatriynoic acid. This acid can then be converted to the acid chloride form and reacted with an alcohol to form an ester or converted to a potassium salt and reacted with a halide also to form an ester, or after conversion to an acid chloride reacted with an amine in the presence of a tertiary amine to form an amide, or the acid can be reacted with carbonyldiimidazole in the presence of a solvent and excess amine to form an amide.
Abstract:
Tinctorial composition for keratin fibers, containing a para-type precursor of an oxidation colorant associated with a heterocyclic coupler of formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 .dbd.H, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be identical or different, denote H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, carboxyl or alkoxycarbonyl; OH is in position 6 or 7;and/or a salt of such a coupler. This composition allows the hair to be dyed with a color having a good resistance to light, washing, bad weather and perspiration.
