Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards a transport protocol for latency sensitive applications. The disclosed transport protocol is “semi-reliable” in that it allows for specification of an importance of data being transmitted, thereby allowing important data to be sent reliably, while other data can be dropped if necessary, e.g., under bad network conditions. A deadline can be specified for such other data, and if the other data cannot be sent prior to the deadline, it can be dropped. Furthermore, the disclosed transport protocol can allow for early discovery of network jitter. A client device can send regular acknowledgments which identify most recently received data packets as well as a number of “heartbeat transmissions” received at the client device. A server device can use the acknowledgments to discover and respond to jitter.

The method also includes obtaining historical data regarding the plurality of performance indicators for each of a series of time points during a past time period; the historical data for each of the plurality of performance indicators form an array of values for that performance indicator. The method further includes generating from each array a set of inputs to an algorithm for predicting a throughput of the cellular network during a future time period; the set of inputs comprises quantiles of the array, and the algorithm comprises a machine learning algorithm. The proxy receives a request for video content from a client device; the request includes historical field of view (FoV) information. The proxy predicts a client FoV, requests video tiles from the server, downloads the tiles from the server, generates a video chunk by decoding and merging the downloaded tiles, and delivers the video chunk to the client device. Abstract: An intelligent determination of a set of candidate handover-beams for a radio access network (RAN) can be facilitated by a RAN intelligent controller (RIC). The RIC can obtain data associated with user equipment devices and their current state, historical patterns, and a current state of serving network node devices and neighboring network node devices. Based on the obtained data, a handover procedure can be optimized by the user equipment by estimating the signal quality from a source cell and neighboring cells. Additionally, the user equipment can send measurement reports to the network to identify and quantify the quality of reference signals transmitted by the network node devices.
