Abstract: In an embodiment, a polymer includes less than 99.5 percent by weight of units derived from one or more olefin monomers. The polymer also includes greater than 0.5 percent by weight of units derived from one or more blue light absorbing monomers. In another embodiment, a method includes placing a heated parison of a polymer in a mold. The polymer is formed by polymerizing a mixture of one or more olefin monomers and one or more blue light absorbing monomers. The polymer has one or more blue light absorption characteristics. The method includes closing the mold. The method includes injecting gas into the parison to form a container in the mold. The method also includes removing the container from the mold.

Abstract: A process of in-situ detection of hollow fiber formation includes immersing a plurality of individual glass fibers in an index-matching material. The index-matching material has a first refractive index that substantially matches a second refractive index of the glass fibers. The process also includes exposing the individual glass fibers to a light source during immersion in the index-matching material. The process further includes utilizing one or more optical components to collect optical data for the individual glass fibers during immersion in the index-matching material. The process also includes determining, based on the optical data, that a particular glass fiber of the plurality of individual glass fibers includes a hollow fiber.

Abstract: A security matrix layer between a first and second conductive shorting layers are located within a printed circuit board (PCB). The security matrix layer includes at least two types of microcapsules with each type of microcapsule containing a different reactant. When the security matrix layer is accessed, drilled, or otherwise damaged, the microcapsules rupture and the reactants react to form at least an electrically conductive material. The electrically conductive material may contact and short the first and second conductive shorting layers.

Abstract: According to one aspect, a process of forming a diisocyanate compound from limonene is disclosed. The process includes performing an oxidation reaction to form a limonene-ketone from limonene having a ketone group at a first position. The process includes performing a conjugate addition reaction on the limonene-ketone to form a limonene-nitrile having a nitrile group bonded at a second position. The process also includes performing a reductive amination reaction on the limonene-nitrile to form a limonene-diamine by reducing the nitrile group to form a first amine group and converting the ketone group to a second amine group. The process further includes forming the diisocyanate compound by converting the first amine group of the limonene-diamine to a first isocyanate group and the second amine group of the limonene-diamine to a second isocyanate group.

Abstract: A process of forming a sustained-release pesticide coating, a process of forming a sustained-release pesticide capsule, and a sustained-release pesticide coating are disclosed. The process of forming the sustained-release pesticide coating includes depositing a first layer that includes a first pesticide onto a surface, and depositing a second layer that includes a photodegradable material onto the first layer. The process of forming the sustained-release pesticide coating also includes depositing a third layer that includes a second pesticide onto the second layer. The process of forming the sustained release pesticide capsule includes selecting a pesticide, selecting a photosensitive compound, and encapsulating the pesticide in a photosensitive capsule that includes a polymer formed from the photosensitive compound. The sustained-release pesticide coating includes a pesticide and a material having a photosensitive component. The material is in contact with the pesticide, and temporarily prevents the pesticide from contacting a surface.
