A method and an apparatus for performing random access and uplink transmission of a User Equipment (UE) supporting Carrier Aggregation (CA) are provided. The method includes determining whether a Scheduling Request (SR) is pending, determining, when the SR is pending, whether an uplink transmission resource is available in a current Transmission Time Interval (TTI), determining, when the uplink transmission resource is not available, whether a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) resource is configured for transmission of the SR, and initiating, when the PUCCH resource is not configured, a random access process in a primary cell. The random access method and apparatus of the present invention is advantageous to reduce the waste of transmission resources.

The present invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for optimizing the power consumption of a terminal in a mobile communication system. The method for optimizing power consumption of a terminal in a mobile communication system comprises: a determination step of determining whether there is a need for changing a configuration for a discontinuous reception operation of the terminal; and a transmission step of transmitting, to a base station, a request message for a change in the discontinuous reception operation, if it is determined that the change is needed.

A method for transmitting a channel state by a terminal in a communication system, according to one embodiment, comprises the steps of: receiving discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration information from a base station; determining whether the terminal is set to transmit channel state information only in onDuration according to a DRX operation; determining whether an arbitrary subframe to be received is a subframe included in onDuration if the terminal is set to transmit the channel state information only in onDuration according to the configuration; and not transmitting the channel state information on the arbitrary subframe if the arbitrary subframe is not a subframe included in onDuration. According to the embodiment, the terminal can efficiently report channel state information.

A method and apparatus is configured to control a discontinuous reception (DRX) in a mobile communication system. The method includes: interrupting the DRX operation when a radio resource control (RRC) connection reestablishment procedure is initiated; transmitting an RRC connection reestablishment request message from the user equipment to an evolved node B (ENB); receiving an RRC connection reestablishment message from the ENB to the user equipment; and resuming, if the received RRC connection reestablishment message contains new DRX setting information, the interrupted DRX operation according to the new DRX setting information. The DRX operation can be interrupted or resumed at a proper time point when an RRC connection is reestablished or reconfigured or a handover is performed, thereby reducing power consumption in the user equipment.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for efficiently controlling access for system load adjustment in mobile communication systems. In a wireless communication system according to one embodiment, the method for transmitting and receiving data by a terminal including a user equipment (UE) non access stratum (NAS) and a UE access stratum (AS) includes the steps of: receiving by the UE AE, information including emergency call-related information which includes barring information by type for the emergency call, from a base station; transmitting, by the UE NAS, a service request for the emergency call to the UE AS; and determining, by the UE AS, whether to bar the service request on the basis of emergency call-related information. According to one embodiment, during the emergency call transmission, network congestion can be easily controlled by enabling various types of emergency calls to be transmitted, and enabling access to be barred information according to the situation of a communication network and types of emergency calls. Also, even when a specific type of emergency call is barred from access, the terminal can change to another type of emergency call and try for access. Therefore, it is effective in that an emergency call can be transmitted in various schemes even in a state where the network is congested.

An apparatus for communicating with a Long-Term Evolution LTE network comprises a wireless communications module FDD operable in a Frequency Division Duplexing FDD mode and a Time Division Duplexing TDD mode, the apparatus having different capabilities in the FDD and TDD modes. The apparatus sends capability information related to capabilities and/or feature groups supported by the apparatus to the network, the capability information including a legacy part and an extension part such that a legacy LTE node can comprehend the capability information from the legacy part and not from the extension part. The extension part is included in an existing User Equipment Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access UE-EUTRA-Capability Information Element, or is separate to the UE-EUTRA-Capability Information Element. A Radio Access Network RAN node for use in the LTE network is also disclosed, the node being arranged to identify different capabilities and/or feature groups supported by the apparatus in the FDD and TDD modes based on the capability information. Methods for use in the apparatus and node are also provided.

The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for effectively reducing power consumption of a terminal in a mobile communication system. A method of controlling a discontinuous reception operation of a signal for a terminal in a wireless communication system includes the steps of: measuring velocity-related information of the terminal; transmitting the measured velocity-related information to a base station; receiving from the base station, in response to the transmission of the velocity-related information, discontinuous reception operation set information for a variable discontinuous reception operation; and performing the discontinuous reception operation according to the received discontinuous reception operation set information.
