Abstract: Embodiments are described in which information from multiple devices is merged through the exchange of linking information. For example, a two dimensional barcode is used associate information originating from different devices. In embodiments, information is associated with various levels of trust based on a variety of factors to quantify whether or not and to what extent collected information can be relied upon to be accurate. In embodiments, information from multiple sources is merged into a common transaction record that can be accessed through use of the linking information so the information can be efficiently retrieved even though it originated, or was captured, by different devices.

Abstract: A security system to detect a concealed item carried by a traveler in motion, the security system includes a camera configured to capture an image series of the traveler in a Eulerian or Lagrangian frame of reference, wherein the captured image series contains motions generated by the concealed item; an alarm system configured to produce an alert signal; and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to magnify motions generated by the concealed item to generate perceptible motions, provide an output image series that contains the perceptible motion, detect characteristic kinematic behaviors of the concealed item from the output image series, measure characteristic kinematic quantities of the characteristic kinematic behaviors, determine a presence of the concealed item from the characteristic kinematic quantities, and activate the alarm system to produce the alert signal.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed towards a system and method for synchronized markers. A multiple-scanner X-ray system includes a belt passing by an upper X-ray scanner and a lower X-ray scanner. An upper belt portion is conveyed in a first direction by the upper X-ray scanner and a lower belt portion is conveyed in a second direction opposite the first direction by the lower X-ray scanner, to obtain upper and lower X-rays. A plurality of X-ray reactive markers are positionally synchronized relative to each other and the belt and conveyed by the belt to cause upper visual marker information, corresponding to a visual appearance of the upper scanned belt section, to be consistent with i) upper X-ray marker information of the upper X-ray, and ii) lower X-ray marker information of the lower X-ray.

Abstract: This application is directed generally to foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) 3C proteases that have been modified by mutating a polynucleotide sequence coding for the FMDV 3C protease. The modified FMDV proteases exhibit proteolytic activity on FMDV P1 precursor protein and exhibit a reduction in one or more toxic or inhibitory properties associated with an unmodified FMDV 3C protease on a host cell used to recombinantly produce it. Vectors carrying polynucleotides encoding modified FMDV 3C protease sequences can induce production of FMDV virus-like particles in a host cell when expressed in the host cell. The modified FMDV 3C proteases can generally be used to produce immunogenic FMDV preparations capable of inducing an immune response against FMDV.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for forming a simulant. In accordance with one embodiment, a method is provided for identifying and forming a simulant. The method identifies, using processing circuitry, a compound. The method further identifies, using the processing circuitry, a plurality of ingredients, wherein the simulant is a combination of the plurality of ingredients. The method further identifies for evaluation, using the processing circuitry, one or more metrics of the simulant. The method further determines, using the processing circuitry, proportions of each of the plurality of ingredients by optimizing a quadratic function based on the one or more metrics of the simulant. The method further outputs the proportions of each of the plurality of ingredients, and forms a mixture of the plurality of ingredients based on the proportions of each of the plurality of ingredients.

Abstract: Aspects of disclosure provide a system for reducing traction of a vehicle. The system includes a mobile controller, and a remote controller. The mobile controller is configured to control release of a liquid. The mobile controller corresponds to a vehicle and configured to direct the release of the liquid to specified wheels of the vehicle. The remote controller is in wireless communication with the mobile controller. The remote controller is configured to store a liquid release setting for the mobile controller, to receive a selection of the vehicle, and to issue a liquid release command including the liquid release setting to the mobile controller corresponding to the selected vehicle. The mobile controller corresponding to the selected vehicle is configured to initiate a release of the liquid directed to one or more wheels of the selected vehicle to reduce traction of the selected vehicle according to the liquid release setting.
