Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for enhanced direct secondary cell activation in a 5G wireless communications system. A user equipment (UE) can receive a Radio Resource Control (RRC) command from a 5G Node B (gNB) via a Primary Cell (PCell) or via a Primary Secondary Cell (PSCell) that includes configuration data for a Secondary Cell (SCell), where the SCell operates in Frequency Range 2 (FR2). The RRC command includes a first Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state for the SCell, and the UE can activate the SCell for the UE based at least on the configuration data, concurrently with the first TCI state for receiving the PDCCH transmission. The UE can receive a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) transmission via a first antenna beam from the SCell, where the first antenna beam is based on the first TCI state.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a timing of a random access channel (RACH) occasion (RO) used to transmit a contention free random access (CFRA) preamble triggered by the receipt of an physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) order in a PDCCH are disclosed herein. A user equipment (UE) receives the PDCCH order and determines a timing offset value between the RO and a signal (e.g., a synchronization signal block (SSB), the PDCCH, a reference signal, etc.) to be used as a timing source. The UE also determines the arrival time of the signal to be used at the timing source. The UE then determines a time of the RO (during which the CFRA preamble will be transmitted) according to the arrival time and the timing offset value. Timing advance (TA) value(s) may also be accounted for as part of such a determination.

Abstract: Some aspects include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for radio resource management measurement prioritization for reduced capacity (RedCap) user equipment (UE). A RedCap UE may be use Half-Duplex Frequency Division Duplex (HD-FDD) for wireless communications. When performing communications with a network, the RedCap UE may make several measurements, including Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP), Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR), and Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ) measurements. To obtain these measurements, the RedCap UE may measure Synchronization Signal Block (SSB), Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), and/or Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) symbols. Difficulties may arise when a RedCap UE's serving cell signal timing is not synchronized with a neighboring cell. The RedCap UE may be configured to prioritize measurements over uplink transmissions. This prioritization may also include symbol buffers so that an overlap in uplink transmissions does not occur during a measurement.

Abstract: Some aspects include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for identifying a panel on user equipment (UE) for sounding reference signal (SRS) and/or physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) communications. This panel selection may be applicable to codebook as well as non-codebook based PUSCH transmission schemes. In some aspects, a base station may provide the UE with an indication of one or more SRS resources and/or sets of SRS resources. The UE may then identify a panel corresponding to the indicated SRS resources and use this panel for PUSCH communications. In some aspects, the UE may apply prioritization scheduling when the UE uses different panels for SRS and PUSCH communications. This prioritization scheduling may address switching delays, which may occur when the UE switches between panels.
