    Abstract: A method for producing a deep-nested embossed product is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing an embossing apparatus having mating first and second embossing members; b) providing the first embossing member with a plurality of discrete embossing elements in a non-random pattern; c) providing the second embossing member with at least one linear embossing element; d) coordinating the at least one linear embossing element with the non-random pattern of first embossing elements; e) aligning the first embossing member and the second embossing member so that the non-random pattern of first embossing elements nest with the at least one linear embossing element to an engagement depth of greater than about 0.01 mm; f) providing one or more plies of material to the embossing apparatus; and, g) passing the one or more plies of the material between the first and second embossing members to produce the deep-nested embossed product.

    Abstract: A process for manufacturing a multi-ply web material is disclosed. The process has the steps of: providing an embossing roll having first, second, and third nips disposed about a periphery thereof; providing a first web material; embossing the first web material in the first nip to produce an embossed first web material having embossed portions associated therewith; applying an adhesive to at least some of the embossed portions of the embossed first web material; joining the embossed first web material to a second web material in a face-to-face relationship in the second nip so that the embossed portions of the embossed first web material are contactingly engaged with corresponding portions of the second web material; and, embossing both the embossed first web material and the second web material in the third nip to produce the embossed multi-ply web material.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates an apparatus and method for assembling at least two webs of tissue paper with or without marking of the webs.     Abstract: The aim of the invention is to create an embossing device for at least two-layered planar products such as toilet paper, tissues, or similar, which makes it possible to easily make high-quality planar products that are provided with decorative patterns. Said aim is achieved by an embossing device for at least two-layered planar products such as toilet paper, tissues, and similar, comprising at least one first and at least one second couple of rollers, each of which is composed of an embossing roller and a squeezer. The embossing roller of the first couple is provided with a plurality of embossing points at a number of about 20 to 70 per cm2, preferably up to about 45 per cm2, said embossing points being evenly distributed across the entire embossing area of the embossing roller, in order to create a planar microembossed design on at least one layered web. The embossing roller of the second couple encompasses first and second areas that are distributed across the embossing area thereof. The first areas are equipped with a plurality of embossing points at a number of about 45 to about 70 per cm2 in order to create a planar microembossed design on at least one additional layered web while the second areas have no embossing points, form a maximum of 40 percent of the entire embossing area, and are not interconnected. The inventive embossing device further comprises at least one gluing station which is arranged adjacent to the embossing roller of the second couple, downstream from the respective squeezer, and by means of which glue is applied to the embossing points of the embossing roller. The embossing rollers are placed relative to one another so as to form a nip for joining the embossed layered webs. A joining roller is positioned downstream from the nip, adjacent to the embossing roller of the first couple, in order to connect the layered webs.
