Abstract: Various embodiments relate to p-phenylene ethynylene compounds as bioactive and detection agents. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of inducing germination of microbial spores including contacting the microbial spores with a p-phenylene ethynylene compound. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method for detecting an enzyme, a method of protein analysis, or a method of detecting a chemical agent, including introducing a p-phenylene ethylylene compound to a composition including an enzyme substrate, and analyzing the fluorescence of the p-phenylene ethynylene compound. Various embodiments provide sensors that include a p-phenylene ethynylene compound and an enzyme substrate.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a hybrid architecture that comprises a stacked autoencoder and a deep echo state layer for temporal pattern discovery in high-dimensional sequence data. The stacked autoencoder plays a preprocessing role that exploits spatial structure in data and creates a compact representation. The compact representation is then fed to the echo state layer in order to generate a short-term memory of the inputs. The output of the network may be trained to generate any target output.

Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for analyzing statistical quality of bitstrings produced by a physical unclonable function (PUF). The PUF leverages resistance variations in the power grid wires of an integrated circuit. Temperature and voltage stability of the bitstrings are analyzed. The disclosure also describes converting a voltage drop into a digital code, wherein the conversion is resilient to simple and differential side-channel attacks.

Abstract: An authentication protocol using a Hardware-Embedded Delay PUF (“HELP”), which derives randomness from within-die path delay variations that occur along the paths within a hardware implementation of a cryptographic primitive, for example, the Advanced Encryption Standard (“AES”) algorithm or Secure Hash Algorithm 3 (“SHA-3”). The digitized timing values which represent the path delays are stored in a database on a secure server (verifier) as an alternative to storing PUF response bitstrings thereby enabling the development of an efficient authentication protocol that provides both privacy and mutual authentication.
