Abstract:
A filter within a filter cartridge design is described that includes a sealing structure on an endplate of an outer filter element. Generally, the sealing structure includes an annular flange on the endplate that can directly seal against an interior surface of a housing when the filter cartridge is assembled for use. During filtration, the annular flange prevents a working fluid from bypassing the outer filter element. The sealing flange can seal with the housing in a press fit engagement.
Abstract:
A filter, filter element and filter assembly are provided. The filter includes a water separating device for separating water from a dirty fluid flow. The water separator includes a fluid flow path that varies in cross-sectional area to vary pressure of the fluid therethrough. A top portion of the water separator is formed as a structurally independent piece from a bottom portion of the water separator. The top portion may be permanently or releasably secured to filter media of the filter via an end cap coupled to an end of the filter media. The bottom portion may be integrally or releasably secured to a housing of the filter. The bottom portion may also be integrally formed with a center tube upon which a filter element mounts.
Abstract:
A filter and filter element is provided that incorporates a valve member for preventing priming fluid from contaminating a clean fluid side of the filter or filter element. The filter may incorporate a replaceable filter element or be replaceable itself. The valve member is preferably formed as an annular flange of a grommet mounted to an end cap of the filter element. The annular flange sealingly engages with the end cap and closes a clean fluid outlet port in a relaxed state and opens the clean fluid outlet port in a deformed state.
Abstract:
An oil filter arrangement (10) comprises a housing, which has a receiving chamber (16) for a filter element (18) which can be cross-flowed in a radial manner by oil and which can be inserted into the housing, a support tube (42) which supports the filter element when it is inserted and a cover (14) which can be screwed to the housing (12) via a thread (15). The cover comprises engaging ribs (44) which are used to rotate the filter element (18) when screwing and/or unscrewing the cover (14) to the housing and/or from the housing.
Abstract:
A filtration system, for example a fuel filtration system in an engine, that helps prevent engine operation when there is no filter cartridge installed or a non-recommended and/or inferior filter cartridge is installed. The filter cartridge includes first and second endplates, one of which includes a fluid flow passage therein through which fluid can flow. The flow passage connects the clean fluid from the filter to a clean fluid outlet.
Abstract:
A filter element and assembly for fluid applications which require a purging of air, and particularly for applications where the filter element is horizontally oriented (side loaded), where the filter element is rotationally positioned relative to the housing such that a vent orifice is properly located for venting air from the filter element as the element fills with fluid. The housing includes a cylindrical body with a closed end a threaded open end, and a threaded, cup-shaped cover which is screwed down onto the housing. The filter element and housing include i) cooperating retaining devices which temporarily couple the filter element to the housing cover when the element is initially inserted into the housing and the cover is initially screwed onto the housing; and ii) cooperating orientation devices which rotationally orient the filter element in the housing as the housing cover is further and fully screwed down onto the housing.
Abstract:
A fuel filter includes: a case; a filter medium disposed in the case; and a fuel discharge guidance member that forms a space between the filter medium and a fuel discharge opening for discharging a fuel filtered by the filter medium to outside the fuel filter, and that has inside the space a sloped surface in which the fuel discharge opening is disposed at a highest position and which is sloped downward from the fuel discharge opening.
Abstract:
A liquid filter arrangement is provided, as well as methods of assembly and use. The liquid filter arrangement includes an anti-drain back valve assembly therein. Advantageous features, relating to a preferred filter cartridge and preferred anti-drain back valve arrangement, are provided.
Abstract:
A device for filtering fuel, in particular diesel, the device comprising a housing containing a flow circuit, a first particle filter element, a second particle filter element, and a water separation fabric. The fuel flow circuit extends between an inlet and an outlet. The first particle filter element is adapted to cause the water contained in the fuel to coalesce in the form of droplets. The second particle filter element is disposed downstream from the first filter element in the fuel flow circuit. The water separation fabric is interposed between the first filter element and the second filter element in the fuel flow circuit and is adapted to form a barrier against droplets of water.
Abstract:
A fluid filter assembly having a relief valve for visually indicating when a filter element may be replaced. The fluid filter assembly of the present invention provides a vertical, transparent housing having a fluid inlet for communicating a fluid into the housing and a fluid outlet for communicating fluid downstream of the housing. A filter element is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet for filtering the fluid.
