    Abstract: Insulating flexible sheets and electroconductive flexible sheets having electroconductive patterns are stacked alternately into a multi-layer structure to form a laminated body. The inclining directions of the obliquely formed electroconductive patterns are varied alternately from layer to layer, and the patterns of different layers are electrically connected by electro-conductive connecting parts formed on the insulating sheets. A pattern of a single line wound in the same direction is formed by rounding the laminated body so as to connect the patterns to each other and thereby form a cylindrical multi-layer coil. Further, by opening the connecting part to make it a tapping part and reducing the number of turns of the multi-layer coil, the inductance of the coil can be set as desired. Alternatively the electroconductive patterns are formed with the same inclination and the connecting part on each insulating flexible sheet is opened to make it a tapping part, so that each layer constitutes an independent single-layer coil. This plurality of single-layer coils are freely connected whether in series or in parallel.

    Abstract: A machine for making cups of thermoplastic coated paper, the machine including a frame or housing having a turret rotatably mounted on the frame, a number of work stations mounted on the frame in an equally spaced relation around the turret, a number of mandrels corresponding to the number of work stations mounted on the turret and a curling die mounted on the turret in radial alignment with each of the mandrels. The turret being rotated intermittently to align the mandrels sequentially with the work stations, the work stations being movable radially inwardly into a working relation with each mandrel, the mandrels being moved radially inwardly simultaneously with the work stations to form a tucked curl on the top edge of the cup.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for forming clear shrinkable film material for use as labels on containers. A blend of general purpose polystryene and styrene-butadiene or styrene butyl acrylate is extruded from an annular extruder die orifice to form a frustoconical tube which is stretched before cooling air is applied to form a clear film that has machine direction orientation and cross direction orientation that can be used as a shrinkable label on containers. As the tube is extruded, it is shielded from cooling air which is applied downstream from the extruder die orifice. The apparatus shields the hot annular extruded material adjacent the die orifice. The air is supplied downstream from an annular air orifice which is designed with a taper that allows ambient air to be freely drawn in and eliminates what would be a negative pressure zone immediately downstream of the air orifice while eliminating air turbulence and improving cooling.
