A method for choosing channel coding and/or interleaving scheme is applied in a communication connection over a radio interface between a terminal and a base station of a cellular packet radio system. A certain decision-making device allocates channel coding and/or interleaving schemes to communication connections. A request message is communicated (to the decision-making device, indicating a certain set of Quality of Service parameters associated with a certain first communication connection. The set of Quality of Service parameters is mapped to a certain first channel coding and/or interleaving scheme as a part of the channel coding and/or interleaving scheme allocation made by the decision-making device. The first channel coding and/or interleaving scheme is communicated to the base station and the terminal for them to apply said first channel coding and/or interleaving scheme in the first communication connection.

An apparatus includes at least one memory including computer program code and at least one processor. The at least one memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to receive a message containing no media content, the message indicating one or more supported media types by a group, cross-check the indicated supported media types with usable media types in the group, based on the cross-check, determine whether at least one of the indicated supported media types is found in the usable media types in the group and, based on the determination, send the message without modifying the indicated supported media types if all of the indicated supported media types are determined to be usable media types.
Abstract:
A method in a communication system is disclosed. In the method a procedure for setting up a communication link between a first user equipment and a second user equipment via a communications network is initiated. Information regarding at least two modes of communication that can be used for communication via the communication link is signalled between the first and second user equipment. An indicator regarding a mode to be used for the communication is also signalled between the first user equipment and the second user equipment. After the signalling steps, a procedure for setting the mode of communication in accordance with the indicator is initiated in at least in one of the user equipment. According to an alternative embodiment signalling for reserving a possibility for at least tow different communication modes occurs between elements of the communication system.

A required transaction control operation is defined in a managing device for arranging transaction control of a management task for a managed device. At least one device management command is defined for the transaction control operation. The at least one device management command is transmitted to the managed device. A required transaction control operation is specified in the managed device onasis of one or more received device management commands, and transaction control for a management task is carried out on the basis of the defined transaction control operation.

A system comprises a subscriber station and a network, the network comprising an access service network and connectivity service network. In an improved communication method an access service network a quality of service profile for a subscriber is received by an anchor gateway of the subscriber. On the basis of the quality of service profile, a first set of transmission control parameters for the subscriber is determined. The anchor gateway applies the first set of transmission control parameters to user data packets addressed to the subscriber.

A system, method and computer program product are provided for delivering media content. The system includes at least one recipient that may be associated with at least one recipient rule. The system also includes a sending entity capable of transmitting a multimedia message addressed to the recipients. The sending entity can also specify delivery rules in the message. In this regard, the multimedia message includes media content. The system further includes a network entity capable of receiving the multimedia message and identifying any recipient rules, sending entity rules and/or network rules associated with the multimedia message. The network entity can then deliver the media content to the recipients based upon respective rules. The network entity can also be capable of processing the media content based upon the rules before delivering the media content, such as by transcoding or truncating at least a portion of the media content prior to delivery.

In one non-limiting aspect thereof the exemplary embodiments of this invention provide a method, a computer program product and a mobile station operable in accordance therewith to originate a request at the mobile station to terminate reception of a Multimedia Broadcast/Multimedia Service radio bearer; and to transmit the request to a wireless network that is the source of the Multimedia Broadcast/Multimedia Service radio bearer. In another non-limiting aspect thereof the exemplary embodiments of this invention provide a method, a computer program product and a wireless network node operable in accordance therewith to receive a request from a mobile station to terminate reception of a Multimedia Broadcast/Multimedia Service radio bearer and, in response, to send the mobile station a PACKET TBF RELEASE message that includes an identification of the mobile station and a TBF_RELEASE_CAUSE value defined as Stop Receiving MBMS Radio Bearer.
