    Abstract: Provided is a continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polypropylene polymerization. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and/or polypropylene and passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a naphtha/diesel fraction, a heavy fraction, and char. Pyrolysis oil and wax, comprising the naphtha/diesel fraction and heavy fraction, is sent to a refinery FCC unit. A liquid petroleum gas C3-C5 olefin/paraffin mixture is recovered from the FCC unit and passed to a refinery alkylation unit. A propane fraction is recovered from the alkylation unit and passed to a dehydrogenation unit to produce propylene. The propylene is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor.

    Abstract: A set of alarm criteria for a drilling tool may be obtained. Individual alarm criterion of the set of alarm criteria may be satisfied based on the drilling tool operating with a set of operating characteristics corresponding to the individual alarm criterion. The set of alarm criteria may include two or more of a tight-hole alarm criterion, a washout alarm criterion, a packoff alarm criterion, a weight-stacking alarm criterion, a delta-torque alarm criterion, a torque alarm criterion, a rate-of-penetration alarm criterion, a reamer-tension-compression alarm criterion, a running-speed alarm criterion, a drag alarm criterion, and/or a pipe-movement alarm criterion. An alarm event corresponding to an alarm criterion may be detected based on the operating characteristic(s) of the drilling tool matching the set of operating characteristics corresponding to the alarm criterion. Responsive to detection of the alarm event, an alarm for the alarm event may be generated.

    Detection, monitoring, and determination of location of changes in metallic structures using multimode acoustic signals

    Abstract: Acoustic transducers generate and receive acoustic signals at multiple locations along a surface of rigid structure, wherein longitudinal spacing between transducer locations define measurement zones. Acoustic signals with chosen amplitude-time-frequency characteristics excite multiple vibration modes in the structure within each zone. Small mechanical changes in inspection zones lead to scattering and attenuation of broadband acoustic signals, which are detectable as changes in received signal characteristics as part of a through-transmission technique. Additional use of short, narrowband pulse acoustic signals as part of a pulse-echo technique allows determination of the relative location of the mechanical change within each zone based on the differential delay profiles. For accurate acoustic modeling and simulation, the mesh size, time step, time delay, and time-window size are optimized. Frequency normalization of the Short-Time Fourier Transform of acoustic response output improves experiment-simulation cross-validation. Applications of the method to structures with arbitrarily complex geometries are also demonstrated.

    Abstract: A method is described for quantitative pay summaries from mud logs, real-time fluid typing, and to minimize logging expense in high-angle or horizontal wells. The method may include receiving at least one mud log; selecting extraction system type, operating, and drilling parameters for the at least one mud log; determining hydrocarbon parameters such as methane (C1) extraction efficiency, trap response factor (TRF), and relative responses for ethane-pentane (C2-C5); correcting gas-in-mud volume to an earth surface to generate a corrected C1-C5; calculating a gas-to-oil ratio (GOR) from the corrected C1-C5; calculating a reservoir gas volume from the gas-in-mud volume to an earth surface and the GOR; determining pay cutoffs; and generating least one pay summary. The method may be executed by a computer system.
