Abstract:
A centrifugal blower assembly comprises a scroll housing including a fluid inlet and a spaced apart fluid outlet. An impeller is disposed in the scroll housing and includes a plurality of spaced apart blades arranged annularly around an axis of rotation of the impeller. A portion of each blade adjacent the fluid inlet is spaced apart from the axis of rotation of the impeller a greater distance than a portion of each blade coupled to a hub opposite the fluid inlet. Each of the blades includes a leading edge that is slanted or curved in a radial direction away from the axis of the rotation of the impeller, causing each of the blades to have a more equal distribution of pressure along a length of each of the blades when the impeller is rotated at a constant speed.
Abstract:
A charge air cooler for use with a turbocharged engine system of a motor vehicle includes an outlet tank in fluid communication with a heat exchanger core. A condensation separator comprising an array of baffle plates is disposed adjacent a fluid outlet of the outlet tank. The baffle plates are spaced apart from each other and each of the baffle plates includes an alternating pattern of ridges and grooves formed therein to form a tortuous flow channel between adjacent ones of the baffle plates. The tortuous flow channels cause liquid water originating from the heat exchanger core and flowing through the condensation separator to encounter a surface of the baffle plates before exiting the fluid outlet. The baffle plates may be covered with a surface feature adapted to capture or absorb the liquid water, thereby preventing an undesired quantity of liquid water from entering the engine of the motor vehicle.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an air conditioning system for conditioning the air of a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, including an outlet section for diverting at least a portion of an air-mass flow circulating in the air conditioning system into the environment of the motor vehicle, a housing for directing the air-mass flow, wherein at least one fan for conveying the air-mass flow is designed within the housing, as well as a coolant circuit for tempering components of the motor vehicle, in particular, components of a power train, having a coolant-air-heat exchanger for transferring heat from the coolant to an air-mass flow.
Abstract:
A block fitting for an air conditioning system includes a male block portion and a female block portion. The male block portion has a first annular pilot. The female block portion has a first annular collar that receives the first annular pilot of the male block portion. The first aperture of the male block portion and the first aperture of the female block portion are substantially concentrically aligned. A first seal structure is disposed between the first annular pilot of the male block portion and the first annular collar of the female block portion. A fastener engages the male block portion with the female block portion to form a substantially fluid tight seal. One of the of the male block portion and the female block portion has a stabilizing heel formed adjacent a side surface thereof. The stabilizing heel militates against transverse dynamic loading of the seal structure in operation.
Abstract:
A device for expansion of coolant having a housing with a flow channel. A ball-shaped valve element arranged to be integrated inside the housing. The valve element is mounted so that it can turn about an axis of rotation and is configured with a through channel. The through channel of the valve element is configured with an entry opening and an exit opening and arranged so that the flow cross section of the through channel decreases from the entry opening to the exit opening in the direction of flow of the coolant. At the exit of the through channel the least flow cross section is formed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing a radiator box or charge air cooler box in the form of a plastic box with an integrated seal by means of two-component injection molding using an injection molding tool. The injection molding tool includes a first main part, a second main part and a movable sliding element core as the third main part, the parts forming a first cavity for at least one part of the plastic box and, by a relative movement of the movable sliding element core, a second cavity, immediately adjacent to the first cavity, for a seal material.
Abstract:
A variable displacement compressor for an air conditioning system includes a suction throttle valve. The suction throttle valve includes a housing with a cavity formed therein. A first piston reciprocatingly disposed in the cavity is configured to cause a variable restriction of a flow of refrigerant through a suction inlet formed in the housing. The suction inlet provides fluid communication between a suction port and the cavity formed in the housing. The refrigerant flows through the suction port in a direction that is not parallel to a direction the piston reciprocates within the cavity. The suction throttle valve is configured to increase the restriction in the suction inlet when a crankcase pressure associated with the variable displacement compression is increased relative to an external suction pressure of the refrigerant entering the suction throttle valve.
Abstract:
An apparatus for measuring interior temperature of a vehicle using a 3D thermal image may include: a pair of stereo infrared (IR) sensors arranged at the front of the vehicle interior so as to be spaced from each other, and configured to measure 2D thermal images for the vehicle interior including a passenger; a calculator configured to convert the 2D thermal images measured through the pair of stereo IR sensors into a 3D thermal image; and a controller configured to calibrate the 3D thermal image information acquired through the calculator, according to variables having an influence on the temperature of the vehicle interior.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a valve assembly for a variable swash plate compressor. Since an opening hole of a suction reed is enlarged toward a suction port of a valve plate and refrigerant is also introduced into a cylinder bore through the opening hole when the suction port is opened, performance of a compressor may be enhanced by an increase in flow rate.
