Abstract: A vehicular forward-sensing system includes a radar sensor and a forward viewing image sensor disposed within a windshield electronics module that is removably installed within the vehicle cabin at the vehicle windshield. A control is responsive to an output of the radar sensor and responsive to an output of the image sensor. Responsive to the image sensor viewing an object present in the path of forward travel of the vehicle and responsive to the radar sensor sensing the object present in the path of forward travel of the vehicle, the control determines that the object is an object of interest by processing by an image processing chip of image data of the object captured by the image sensor at a portion of an image plane of the image sensor that is spatially related to a location of the object present in the path of forward travel of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an interior electrochromic rearview mirror assembly and a camera disposed at the interior electrochromic rearview mirror assembly behind and viewing through an electrochromic mirror reflective element into the interior cabin of the vehicle. Supplemental sources of near infrared illumination are integrated into the mirror assembly that, when powered to emit near infrared light, illuminate at least a front seating area within the interior cabin of the vehicle. Presence of the camera is not readily apparent to an occupant sitting in the interior cabin of the vehicle. The interior electrochromic rearview mirror assembly includes a processor that processes image data captured by the camera. The camera at least views a driver-side front seating area of the vehicle and, via processing at the processor of image data captured by the camera, the driver seated at the driver-side front seating area is monitored.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a forward-viewing camera located behind and viewing through a vehicle windshield, a rearward-viewing camera located at a rear of the vehicle, and a common image processor operable for processing captured image data. A video display screen is located within the interior cabin of the vehicle viewable by a driver of the vehicle. The common image processor processes first image data captured by the forward-viewing camera to detect at least one vehicle present exterior the equipped vehicle. Responsive to the vehicle being shifted into a reverse gear and while the driver is executing a reversing maneuver, video images derived from image data captured by at least the rearward-viewing camera are displayed by the video display screen.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a plurality of cameras, a plurality of sensors and a central electronic control unit. Image data captured by at least one of the cameras and sensor data sensed by at least one of the sensors is provided to and processed at the central electronic control unit. Data relevant to a current geographical location of the vehicle is provided to and processed at the central electronic control unit. The central electronic control unit is operable to at least partially control the vehicle. The central electronic control unit may include a threat recognizer and a risk assessor. Responsive at least in part to threat recognition/evaluation by the threat recognizer and risk assessment by the risk assessor, the central electronic control unit may control at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) braking of the equipped vehicle and (ii) steering of the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a forward-viewing camera located behind and viewing through a vehicle windshield, a rearward-viewing camera located at a rear of the vehicle, and a common image processor operable for processing captured image data. A video display screen is located within the interior cabin of the vehicle viewable by a driver of the vehicle. The common image processor utilizes object detection software at least during processing of first image data captured by the forward-viewing camera to detect at least one vehicle present exterior the equipped vehicle. Responsive to the vehicle being shifted into a reverse gear and while the driver is executing a reversing maneuver, video images derived from image data captured by at least the rearward-viewing camera are displayed on the video display screen.

Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an illumination source that, when powered, emits light that illuminates at least a portion of a driver of the vehicle. A camera is disposed at the interior of the vehicle and views the portion of the driver. A control includes an image processor that processes captured image data. The illumination source is controlled to modulate intensity of light emitted by the illumination source. The image data output is processed to distinguish a component of the image data output that arises from the illumination source illuminating the portion of the driver from a component of the image data output that arises from ambient light illuminating the portion of the driver. The control filters the image data output to reduce the distinguished component that arises from ambient light and, responsive to processing of the filtered image data output, monitors the portion of the driver.
