    Abstract: In the case where drive power of a vehicle is increased, a control device starts micro-braking control for generating a braking force on at least one wheel of a front wheel and a rear wheel. During execution of the micro-braking control, the control device estimates an efficacy factor that is a factor indicating a relationship of a magnitude of the braking force to a magnitude of a pressing force generated by a friction braking system. The control device estimates the efficacy factor for the wheel, to which the braking force is applied by the micro-braking control, on the basis of a deviation between generated drive power, which is based on a required value for a power source, and actual drive power actually acting on the vehicle, and the pressing force corresponding to the wheel, to which the braking force is applied by the micro-braking control.

    Abstract: A rail vehicle has at least two railroad cars (111, 112, 11n) and a braking system with control units (121-1, 121-2, 122-1, 122-2, 12n-1, 12n-2) at least one of which is arranged in each railroad car. Each control unit receives a brake input signal (B), and in response thereto generates a control signal (c11, c12, c13, c14, c21, c22, c23, c24, cn1, cn2, cn3, cn4). The control signals are generated on the further basis of at least one motion parameter expressing a respective movement of the railroad cars (111, 112, 11n). At least one brake actuator (1311a, 1311b, 1312a, 1312b, 1311a, 1311b, 1312a, 1312b, 13n1a, 13n1b, 13n2a, 13n2b) is arranged in each railroad car. Each brake actuator receives the control signal generated by a control unit in the same railroad car as the brake actuator is located, and based thereon produces a brake-force signal (f11, f12, f13, f14, f21, f22, f23, f24, fn1, fn2, fn3, fn4) to a brake unit (141-1, 141-2, 141-3, 141-4, 142-1, 142-2, 142-3, 142-4, 14n-1, 14n-2, 14n-3, 14n-4). In response thereto, each brake unit causes a pressing member to apply a braking force to a rotatable member so as to reduce a rotation speed of at least one wheel of a railroad car in the rail vehicle.

    Abstract: A device for protecting a travel trajectory of an ego vehicle. An information evaluation device creates an ego grid for the travel trajectory of the ego vehicle through the travel surroundings so that for each ego grid cell, a temporal occupation of the particular ego grid cell by the ego vehicle, driving along the travel trajectory, is established, and creates a surroundings grid for the travel surroundings so that a temporal occupation of a surroundings grid cell by at least one object that is possibly present is established for each surroundings grid cell. The device includes a grid evaluation device that examines each ego grid cell and the particular associated surroundings grid cell with regard to a simultaneous occupation of the particular ego grid cell by the ego vehicle, driving along the travel trajectory, and of the particular associated surroundings grid cell by the at least one possibly present object.

    Abstract: The techniques and systems herein enable estimated-acceleration determination for AEB. Specifically, for a potential collision, a determination is made as to whether the target of the potential collision is likely to be stopped prior to the potential collision (e.g., due to its own braking). One of a plurality of estimated-acceleration functions is then selected based on whether the target is likely to be stopped prior to the potential collision. Using the selected estimated-acceleration function, an estimated acceleration to avoid the potential collision is calculated. By selecting different estimated-acceleration functions based on whether targets are likely to be stopped prior to potential collisions, more-accurate estimated accelerations may be generated, thus enabling better collision avoidance and/or avoiding unnecessarily strong braking.

    Abstract: A cable-coupled by-wire control of a vehicle control function traditionally activated by driver manipulation of a pedal is achieved though the agency of a Bowden cable having a first end fastened to the driver pedal, and a second end coupled to a by-wire actuator. The by-wire actuator has a pulley on which the second end of the cable is fastened, an electric motor coupled to the pulley to permit by-wire activation of the vehicle control function by rotation of the pulley in a direction to pull on the pedal with the cable. A relief chamber of the actuator radially outboard of the pulley accommodates slack in the cable within the actuator caused by driver manipulation of the pedal during by-wire activation of the control function.

    Abstract: A method for operating a brake system of a vehicle. The brake system having: a first and a second actuator for generating a hydraulic pressure in the brake system; a first control device designed to control the first actuator; and a second control device designed to control the second actuator. In the method, the brake system is monitored for emergency braking, wherein the first actuator is controlled by the first control device to generate a first hydraulic pressure for achieving a pre-specified emergency deceleration of the vehicle if emergency braking is detected. The second control device is controlled by the first control device to control the second actuator to generate a second hydraulic pressure when the deceleration that can be or is achieved by means of the first actuator is less than the pre-specified emergency deceleration.
